15 Reasons Why Spending Spring Break At Home Is Better Than Spending It In Cabo As Told By The Kardashians

Because sometimes family time is far more important than Cabo time.

Let’s be real, people. Spring break is so built up.

Starting at the beginning of February, I find myself bombarded with ads online telling me how to get the perfect “bikini bod in just four weeks.” Winter quarter has just barely started and already I get asked what I’m doing for spring break. You know what I’m doing? I’m going home and there’s no shame in that.

I know what you’re thinking, “She just doesn't get it.” No, believe me, I get it, and all power to you for heading out to party your spring break away, that’s just not for me and here’s why:

1. You miss your mom. Come on, we all know that being away from home is not always the cat’s meow and seeing your mom after being away for so long is just what you need.

2. You’re sick of your school friends. I mean, friends are cool (no hate) but you see them all the time at school. You need to take a break from your friend group so that you can come back to school ready to take on the new quarter with your crew.

3. You don’t need to stress about dieting. “How to get the perfect bikini bod in four weeks?” How about: “How to not care about any of that while eating whatever you want?”

4. You miss good, quality food. Freebs is good, don't get me wrong, but food in your college town just isn't the same as the food at home.

5. You’ll remember your entire vacation. This can come in clutch when your section TA decides to go around the room and ask what your favorite part of break was.

6. Sometimes you just need to rest and detox. Four finals and two papers later, you deserve a good, long rest (read: hibernation.)

7. No Sunburns! Staying home will guarantee you that your skin will be leather-free when you hit your adult years. Unless you live in Southern California. In that case, #7 does not apply. Read on.

8. Your family misses you and they might just decide to show you how much they miss you (read: gifts.) Because whats a better welcome home than a freshly filled wallet of cash and a box of Krispy Kreme donuts?

9. You can catch up on the hours of sleep lost during winter quarter. You deserve to catch up on the z’s that winter quarter robbed you of. Sleep as long as you wish, really.

10. You can take time to think about who you’re going to vote for this coming election. America needs you.

11. You wont have to deal with your friends constantly asking which filter to use for their daily spring break Insta. Because reassuring your friend that “Valencia” makes her photo look like she’s having more fun than “X-Pro II” should not have to be a daily task.

12. Nothing you own will be stolen, and you can be sure of that. You won’t have to worry about locking your stuff up in your room or dealing with large crowds.

13. You can catch up on your favorite shows. This is important because while everyone is out and about in Cabo, you will be up to date on the latest Kourtney-Scott relationship status.

14. You can take this time to actually get you life together. Because that thing called a career isn’t just going to pop up out of nowhere after college.

15. You will save money. This is a big one. A trip out of the country is costly, and money doesn't grow on trees. Let's not be wasteful.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
