We all have parents and they all have jobs, but do those jobs specifically benefit your appearance? It's not Mother's Day, but it is appreciate your mom who works her butt off in the salon and in the house day! To all the moms that are also hairstylists, this one's for you! You're worth every single hair splinter you receive while also styling your client's hair!
Having a hair stylist as a mom is wicked cool. You get all of the perks of being a client, but for free - well there is a fee, you just have to give hugs! Do you want your eyebrows reshaped? No problem. Forget about eyebrows! What about your upper lip? My mom's profession has benefitted me in more ways than just one. I could always get her style advice on anything, she would even tell me her opinion when I hadn't even asked yet! Ever since I was little, I was the guinea pig to all of her unanswered questions ... Just kidding, but really if you wanted a new do- she would do it! My mom can cut, color, and style in either the shortest amount of time or the longest (it depends on when we arrive at the salon because we all know my mom was taking her sweet time putting on the right shade of lipstick to go out in public).
Having a hairstylist as a mother also guarantees you to have: A) the cool mom; B) the stylish mom; and C) the mom with the greatest sense of style our town has seen! The only time I get compliments on my clothes is when I'm wearing my mom's clothes. From the shirt to the shoes, I am dripping in my mom's style.
Having a hairstylist as a mom can also be tough at times because you will want to spend one evening with her some random day in January and you will have to check and see if she's booked.
Not only does my mom style awesome looks, but she also is a therapist to her clients! This has trained her for my rough days, for when she comes home is all ears.
Besides having my mom as a hair stylist, the salon is filled with other women that are amazing role models to me and will willingly do my prom up-dos, no matter how crazy they may get! The salon is like a safe haven, you can always go no matter what: if you want to simply relax with the other stylists, that's cool; if you want to crack open a new book, that's cool; or if you're feeling down and need to see some amazing women, the salon is the place to be!
All in all, having a mom is great, but having a mom that is a beautician is waaaay better for all of the reasons stated above ... did I mention that you have the cool mom or that you don't just have one mom, you have a whole salon full of mothers that become part of your bloodline!?
