It's that time of the year again where everyone begins to make their New Years' resolutions. So, while you're trying to come up with yours, try not to make unreasonable ones. Instead, try to come up with something realistic. Here are some suggestions to help you get started.
1. Exercise more
OK, I know this is practically everyone's resolution at one time or another, but it really isn't a hard one to do. Get yourself into a routine that you can enhance and improve upon as the year progresses. Find a friend to work out with, so it will be more fun. And, you don't have to go to the gym or go on runs. You could try classes like yoga or zumba. Being active in one way or another will benefit you.
2. Make a new friend
With the start of a new semester right around the corner, you'll be meeting new people in all of your classes. Befriend one of them. There isn't anything wrong with expanding your friend group.
3. Try new foods
So, if you're a picky eater like me, this one might be a problem. But, it can never hurt to try something. The worst thing that could happen is you don't like it. Give something new a chance and see what happens.
4. Go on an adventure
An adventure can be anything you want it to be. Do something fun and unexpected. Be spontaneous! Get in the car and drive until you end up somewhere. You never know what kinds of memories you'll make along the way.
5. Volunteer
Volunteering is such a rewarding experience, and there are so many ways it can be done. It can be a one-time thing, or something you become involved in for a long time. Regardless, giving back to those less fortunate always feels good.
6. Make time to reflect
Sometimes it's good to set some time aside to just think and reflect. Journaling is a great way to get these ideas down in front of you. You never know what you'll learn about yourself if you take the time to yourself and reflect.
7. Save money
Try not to splurge on expensive items you may not necessarily need. Save up for items you really want or need to buy. If you're a little more conscientious about your money, by the end of the year, your wallet will be thanking you.
8. Do what makes you happy
Don't let others bring you down! Do you what you like doing, and don't disregard your own personal happiness. This one simple resolution is a surefire way to ensure that your 2016 is a fantastic, memorable year.
