The Pros and Cons Of Living In A Sorority House

I lived in my sorority house for the past two years and recently had to say goodbye to my twin sized bed and shower shoes. Although living in was a blast, there was definitely several moments that I would have rather not experienced. Here's a nice pro-con list of living in a sorority.

Cons

1. Sharing showers. Shout out to my shower shoes, who knows what diseases I would have without you.

2. Sharing a bathroom. I just want to pee in peace.

3. Hairballs everywhere. How does this even happen, why do girls shed so much?!

4. You have a house mom. Who may or may not be worse than your real mom.

5. Rules on having boys over. I'm in college I don't need more rules on how to live my life!

6. You share your room. Love having a roomie and all, but I want my own space.

7. No alone time. Again….. I want need my own space!

8. It's always loud. I don't want to hear your screams, cries or laughter while I am trying to sleep.

9. It's way too hot. Seriously why is it hotter than the Sahara Desert in here??

10. And when it's not too hot, it's too cold. Seriously why is it colder than Antarctica in here??

11. Several girls on their periods at once. I don't even need to explain this one.

12. People who don't live in use your room as their second home. Why is there always random items laying around my room or random people napping in my bed?

Pros

1. It's so convenient. How lucky am I to walk downstairs and have a full lunch buffet ready to be eaten.

2. You have 40 other closets to borrow from. Not to worry when you have “nothing to wear" you can just borrow from a sister.

3. You live with your best friends. Nothing beats calling your best friend you roommate.

4. You never have to clean or cook. I don't know how I am going to survive in the real world, I'm so used to this luxury.

5. You know everyone's drama. You are the first to know all the top drama to report to everyone else.

6. You share everything. Need Advil, Benadryl, even chocolate? Someone has that for you.

7. Someone is always awake. Bored and can't sleep? Roam the house and you will find someone doing the same thing.

8. Someone will always watch a movie with you. People are always down for a movie night in the TV lounge.

9. Someone will always cry with you. Don't worry you will never cry alone someone will always be feeling the same way you are.

10. Someone will always eat with you. You ask if anyone wants to go to McDonalds and four other people are down to go.

11. You get to know people better. You become close with people you would have never expected.

12. You get the full sorority experience. Living in is apart of the sorority experience, you see a whole different side of the chapter and have a once in a lifetime experience.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
