It is that time in the semester that we all dread. Finals week, is coming in the next couple of weeks. Everybody has their own little things that help them get through these hard times. For me that is coffee. Coffee and I have a love hate relationship and this upsets me. I personally have gotten more obsessed with coffee ever since I got to college. I never really use to like the bitter drink unless it was more milk and sugar than coffee. However, I drink very bitter coffee without a problem. However, that leads to a few pros and cons…
Pros:
1. Coffee helps you wake up in the morning. You don’t even have to drink it. It is said that if you even smell coffee beans that it is supposed to wake you up.
2. The atmosphere. This sounds really weird but there is something homey when sitting in a nice café sipping on your drink. This also includes going with friends to get a coffee.
3. Black coffee is strong and can help you loose weight. (I personally cannot do this because I need a little bit of flavor.)
4. It gives you energy. Whether it has caffeine or if it is decaf there is something about this drink that gives a person energy. No matter if it is 8 a.m. before class or 2 a.m. when you are trying to finish that paper that is due in the morning.
Cons:
1. Coffee makes you have to go to the bathroom. Let’s be real here.
2. It sucks out all of your money from your wallet. Whether you are buying K-Cups, ground coffee for a coffee pot, or buying coffee at any fast-food/ café.
3. If you do not have your morning coffee it gives you headaches. Not just a regular headache, it is so painful until you get a full cup of coffee in your system.
4. Coffee can cause insomnia. You have to pay attention to how much caffeine is in your system and when you drink it.
No matter what the cons are I cannot live without coffee. There is not a day where you do not see me with my travel mug, a Dunkin' Iced, or a Starbucks cup. In this pros and con, the pros trump over the cons.
