Over the past year, we all have been following the race for the presidency as President Obama leaves office and we look for someone to replace him. We started out with 16 candidates on the Republican side and 3 on the Democratic side. It was pretty clear cut who the Democratic candidate was going to be. Even though the race still goes on, Hilary Clinton was and still is the presumptive Democratic nominee, but the Republican party's election was not as simple to figure out. Entrepreneur Donald Trump was the early favorite in the polls, but many expected the polls to be much different from the actual outcome. No one actually thought loud mouth, arrogant Trump was going to win the nomination, but state by state he proved people wrong. Candidates started dropping out and eventually there was one person left standing. To much disbelief, that person was Trump. That now sets up a showdown for the presidency between Democrat Hilary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump.
I have written an article on Trump before, but still did not believe it would actually happen. As much as I believe Trump would be good for the country, I always felt like we were going to end up with a contested convention or the rise of Cruz or Kasich in the end. Never did I think they would both drop out and leave Trump as the nominee. But it has happened, and boy we could never have been so lucky!
To start, we get to listen to Trump and Hilary battle it out on stage for the next few months and who would not want that? Two people who are suspected to have tons of dirt on them now get the chance to rip apart each other on national television. If you expect this to be presidential in any aspect, you are in for a rude awakening, this will be an absolute blood bath.
Also, for the next few months, we get to witness Trump running for the presidency and imagine him as our President for the next few years. Think about it. President Donald Trump. Running our country. Whether you like it or not, Trump as President would certainly be entertaining. Now that Trump is the nominee and even if he becomes President, you would expect him to be Presidential in some aspect, but my guess would be that there is no way that happens.
But, in all reality, from a serious perspective, we might actually get to hear some policy. We might actually get to hear some concrete plans that Trump has and that, in my opinion will only help Trump in his race for the presidency. If Trump can somehow manage to rip apart Hilary while talking about his policy, his chances to win could sky rocket. He could make a serious run at this presidency. And whether that scares you or not, we still have the next few months to find out. We still await to see Trump's actions after accepting the nomination and dealing with the Republican party officials. We still wait to see if the Republican party will try and undercut him with the introduction of a 3rd party candidate. there is still a lot to figure out and see, but we certainly have a lot to look forward to. But as you sit around and think about politics and the future of this country. Say the words "President Trump" to yourself. Does it sound good to you? Could you see that happening after the next few months? Or does it all still seem like a bad dream that you hope to wake up from? You have your opinions and answers to those questions and I have mine, but I think that President Trump sounds pretty good to me.
