Do you ever catch yourself feeling dazed? Stuck in the same routine? Do you feel like you’re not as attractive like you used to be? Or you feel like you are not good enough as a person? Don’t worry its normal it’s happens to everyone from time to time. You may feel inadequate, you may have had a stressful week, you may have just gotten out of a relationship, failed an exam, or you realized the pants you bought from the mall don’t fit you the way you thought they would. Pretty much you’re in a funk, I have a solution Loving yourself is one of the most rewarding things you can do, especially for young adults in college. We all seem to be living under stress to maintain our GPA’s, scholarships, friends, housing, family, relationships and time to recuperate. At times we forget how to love ourselves and no I am not talking about vanity, although embracing your own unique beauty can be empowering, you have to love yourself from within here are 5 ways you can start loving yourself completely.

  1. Spend some quality time with yourself sometimes it’s nice to take a break from social interactions, and just sit back and do something solo it’s hard for a college student to hear yourself think when you’re constantly surrounded by your competitive peers and high demanding professors. Take some time to listen to your favorite music, read, go eat some of your favorite food, enjoy your own company.
  2. Get active, there’s nothing wrong with being active especially as a college student. Go hit the gym, go for a walk, take a Zumba class, and find something physically beneficial for you to do to get your mind off of the stressful semester you may have gone through.
  3. Encourage yourself so many people young and old experience insecurities and moments where they speak negatively of themselves find new ways to encourage yourself try writing down positive truths about your character or inspiring quotes on sticky notes and post them in your bathroom or around your dorm. If you are religious by a journal and write your own personal prayers in them and ask God for guidance and encouragement, or find inspiration posters or picture frames to hang in your dorm make your living space unique and positive.
  4. Seek Personal clarity for some people who are religious they may seek spiritual enlightenment by prayer, fasting, or spending time with their bible. For other people they may seek meditation, or aroma therapy. Your goal should be to find a way to feel calm, empowered, and enlightened within yourself.
  5. Take it one day at a time So many of us want to see quick results in almost everything we do, we live in a society where everything seems to be rushed, understand when it comes to loving yourself it will take some time to get used to when you have not been practicing these few tips I have given you, allow yourself to take it one step at a time, be patient, and kind to yourself. Love yourself through your trials and error as well as your triumphant moments. You can do it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
