I'm glad you have taken the time to stop catching those pocket monsters long enough to read this. I don't think there is any higher honor that could be bestowed upon me.
Everyone and their mother (literally) knows what Pokemon Go is. I will not waste your time explaining what it is. Odds are, you have it and have spent hella time on it. I have just made a few observations about the craze that has swept the nation and world. My perspective comes from the idea that I don't own the app.
The reason I don't have the app is not a knock against Pokemon. It's just not something for me. It's not my taste, and I leave it at that. Plus, with all the music I have on my phone, I don't think I have any space for gaming applications. I also don't like any game that leads to exercise. That's not what I sign up for with my video gaming. I'll go to an actual gym if I want to work out.
My biggest problem with Pokemon Go has nothing to do with those who have it. It makes them happy, so why on Earth would that upset me? It's not for me, but not everything is. My problem is with those who don't have the app and openly bash it like they have to make a grand statement.
All my social media timelines are filled with nothing but Trump and Pokemon Go. I don't mind those celebrating their catches. I mean, you gotta catch them all. I hate those who post stuff like, "I don't have Pokemon Go cause I'm an adult with adult things to do." B**ch, please. It's not Pokemon Go fans' fault you are a dolt. If you don't have the app, fine -- leave it at that. Don't act like you are mosses taking a stand and are touting something grand. You don't own a gaming app, big deal. You aren't changing the world with your Facebook proclamation. Just let those who enjoy it, enjoy it. Don't be the asshat who ruins the party with a personal agenda.
Basically, my perspective is I am happy an app has brought so much happiness within the past couple of weeks. If the world needed anything the past couple of weeks, it's levity. To have fun again when things are reaching boiling points of awful is a need. It's nice little escapism that has people working out and socializing with people in person.
We might still be living our lives through our phones, but this is a nice step in the right direction. I also have a fine appreciation for anything retro. As odd as this may sound, the '90s and the early 2000s are now upon the threshold of retro. I was too young to truly be a part and understand the initial Pokemon craze back in the day. With Pokemon Go, it reflects the craze of the past with it's own spin on it. It's always fun seeing a concept go full circle.
So, go out and be the very best like no one ever was.
