This week we are talking about Planned Parenthood--yes this is still a men’s health arc. Planned Parenthood benefits men too. Hold on to your hats, because abortions are only three percent of what they do. Let me show you why they matter to both women and men. Guys, you need to talk about your sexual health. I am not a Cosmopolitan article, I am only giving you the facts, not tricks and handy dandy advice from the opposite sex.
Like most physical ailments, when it comes to your sexual health a lot of the time men are discouraged from talking about it. Men’s sexual health can be classified as anything from erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, to how to prevent and treat UTIs and which condom is right for you. Planned Parenthood provides you with all of these services and then some, the best part about this corporation is that they give you straight answers no matter the awkwardness level of the question.
If it’s burning, itching, or just feels weird; no it most certainly not is supposed to do that. Does it burn when you pee? That’s a UTI my friend, fear not this kind of thing happens all the time. It’s kind of painful but consult your local planned parenthood for screening, treatment and prevention tips, the sooner you make an appointment, the sooner that you can put this…sensation…behind you.
Does it itch more than usual? Do you have a slight fever? Don’t do the hand test get a thermometer, is it above 99.2? Yeah, that’s a fever. A fever is always a telltale sign that your body is fighting something. If you are experiencing an unrelenting itch around your testes and penis, a fever, you’re tiring out a lot easier, and you’re somewhat more irritable than you should be– that would be pubic lice. Go to Planned Parenthood and get yourself checked out!
If you are having trouble getting fully erect, don’t worry this stays between us it happens to everyone, guess what I’m about to tell you? Get thee to a Planned Parenthood and quick! Although most times this could be a symptom of a bigger problem, like a response or a medication or a mental problem such as anxiety or depression. The important to thing to know is that it is fixable, it is not the end of the world, and although I’m sure your self-esteem took a big hit. Understandable man, I’m sorry but you will get back up from this- pun not intended. Go to a doctor about it, it can be something as simple as changing your diet.
Were you in the shower just now and felt something that should not be there? If you feel a lump in your testes you should get that looked at--take every suspicion seriously. Planned Parenthood offers insurance covered screening for testicular cancer. Men between the ages of twenty and thirty four are most at risk for it and early detection can be lifesaving. It’s rare, but it happens, that is why you have to listen to your body no matter what it does. You only have one, and if you take care of yourself in every aspect that we discussed this month, you are going to be more than fine. Just take of your head, your sex, and everything in between. Thanks for joining me this month talking about men’s health.
If you are privately insured and choose not to use Planned Parenthood, that is completely fine. One of the purposes of this article was to educate others on what Planned Parenthood does for men, if you choose not to use it then please understand that not a lot of people are as fortunate, so donate to a worthy cause. Make an appointment while you are there, go to plannedparenthood.org and call your nearest location if you are a first time patient. It is safe, it is anonymous, and they would not be there without the tireless work of the aids and clinicians who give their time and expertise to give those who cannot afford it, the best care. Donations go to proceeds and screenings like the ones I just listed. Take care guys! Happy Thanksgiving!
