I’m not here to post on my Facebook saying, “~~being single rox! Boys suk~~” because I know it does kind of suck sometimes. However, to get past those moments of loneliness, remember all the perks that come with being single. Yes, there are a lot of perks to being in a relationship, but if you only focus on the perks of being with someone, you’re not going to be happy until you’re with someone. To make your happiness dependent on another person isn’t strongly advised. Do you, girl. (Until you find your Prince Charming, then do him).
In the mean time, let’s look at all the perks, shall we:
Parties:
You can dance with anyone you want. Want to grind on that hot, shaggy blonde guy? Do it. Nothing is stopping you. I’m sure he won’t mind. Twerk it, girl.
Money:
Guess who doesn’t have to spend money on dates and Christmas presents? Your cute, single self! You know what you can do with that money instead? Anything. Save it, splurge it, whatever. Buy a dress for full price instead of creating a new email to get the online discounts for being a first time customer.
Not having to answer to anyone:
Hanging out with other guys? Have fun! Squish a beer can on your forehead because you don’t have to report to anyone.
Not sharing a bed:
This is probably the best one. That bed is all yours, soak it in and sprawl. Fill that bed with anything you want—food crumbs, Snickers wrappers, stuffed animals, blankets and more.
Discovering yourself:
However cliché it is, college is a great time to find YOU. To learn what you like, dislike, what you want and what you could do without. I’m not saying a boyfriend is stopping you from doing that, I’m saying that when you’re out there just doing you, you get a better sense of who you are as a person.
Netflix:
No more agreeing on shows! You can binge watch Say Yes to the Dress or all the shark documentaries your heart desires. If that’s not freedom, I don’t know what is.
If those perks aren’t enough for you, then I’d suggest dabbling with Tinder or going up to a cute guy in the library and hoping for the best. Just remember that being in a relationship isn’t everything. Clearly, being single has some serious advantages.
