As the temperatures rise and summer soon approaches, students, employees, parents, and basically every human being on the planet cannot help but count down the days until their summer trip.
Whether it’s going to the beach, a cabin, or a lake house, summer trips are always the highlights of the season of summer. Although they are intended for pure relaxation and a get away from the hustle and bustle that comes with the everyday lifestyle, packing is a feared presage to leaving for the long-awaited vacation.
Here are six life-hacks to de-stress the process of packing for a long trip. With these in mind, packing will be a breeze and enable you to kick back, relax, and enjoy the summer atmosphere.
1. Put your necklaces in straws
Yep, no typo there…straws. As weird as it may sound, putting your necklaces in straws is an innovative way to prevent the future headache of tangled necklaces. By placing each necklace in a straw, it’ll keep them individualized and tangle-free!
2. Day to night outfits
When packing outfits, it is most effective to pack clothing items that are versatile. For example, pack a shirt that can be easily transitioned from day to night. If a shirt looks amazing paired with something simple like tennis shoes and a skirt, then later paired with jeans and booties you have the perfect shirt to pack keeping your clothes to a minimum.
3. Roll your clothes
Folding or simply throwing your clothes into a suitcase may seem easiest, but takes up the most space. To avoid the potential waste of space, roll them instead to fit twice as much in a smaller bag.
4. Place items in shoes
We all know that shoes are very bulky, but what we fail to recognize is the space they have within them. By placing a few small items like socks or intimates, you gain more space within your suitcase to fit more.
5. Have 2 back up outfits in your carry on
The biggest fear of any frequent flyer's life – lost luggage. Although it is a scary thought, it happens from time to time. To relieve some of the stress of potentially lost luggage, put an outfit or two in your carry on so you are prepared for whatever unfortunate events you may approach on vacation.
6. Travel size containers
This may seem like a no-brainer, go out and buy some travel size containers, BUT what may not come to mind is the potential travel containers that may be found around the house. For example, a contact container serves as a perfect household item to be used as a container for something small like concealer or eye cream.
Aside from a contact container, old pill bottles are perfect for Q-tips and tic tac containers are ideal for holding bobby pins. Thinking outside of the box is a huge packing hack and money saver!
