Although Spring has been upon us for a couple weeks now I think it is important to appreciate and recognize the act of Spring cleaning and how it is essential for us college students to do. The following things are not only the typical ones that you may think of but others that ultimately deserve some cleaning as well. At this point in the semester, we students are edging towards the end. We are in the uncomfortable and downright dirty part of our semester where late nights and quick, unhealthy eating can lead us down the wrong road. Here is something to focus on cleaning this Spring.
Clean Your Room
Yes, yes I know you're all thinking this is a very generic and lame thing to clean, but it is more important than you think. Your room is a personification of yourself. In fact, the Huffington Post wrote about a study where people who tended to keep their homes cleaner had more active and healthy lifestyles. From a simple making of your bed to the cleaning of the shower. With a cleaner room, you will have a more positive atmosphere to study, live and sleep in. Unless, like some college students, you live in the library.
Clean Your Mind
As students, we are constantly bombarded by obligations, challenges and downright unfortunate events. It is important to cleanse your mind of harmful thoughts and burdens. Often it seems we are so focused on the things that don't matter that we miss on the things that do. We must turn our mindsets from passive to determined and relieve the stress that shouldn't be bothering us in the first place.
Clean Your Body
*Sniff, Sniff, smell that? Hopefully, you don't smell too bad from all the sleepless nights studying but the bigger point behind this is making sure to take care of your body beside a shower now and again. Set an exercise goal or look for a new, fresh haircut or outfit and for goodness sake get a decent sleep once in a while. If you look good, you tend to feel good as well and people will surely notice.
Clean Your Soul
In today's world, we are constantly faced with hateful rhetoric and harmful thoughts. We must be careful from falling into these types of trap, no matter how convincing the person or entity may be. If we can clean our souls, then we can have the ability to clean the rest of the latter things listed. This can only be done by replacing hate with love, fear with boldness and sadness with happiness. We can then find the cleanliness that we were always looking for and be able to finish the semester with a smile on our faces.
