For The Women Who Keep Getting Their Heart Broken

I got new rules, I count them

Today is the first day of the new year. I know I said last year that New Year's resolutions are dumb because we should always be striving to improve ourselves, yet here I am, about to make a New Years plan, not only for me but for all the women who keep on being defeated by love and men. So ladies, here's the plan.

We are going to stop putting time into men who clearly do not give a poop about us. How will we know that? If we feel ANY sort of uneasiness from them, and we doubt whether they really like us or not, at that moment, we will pull back and we will see how they feel. If they want to be with you, they will make it happen.

It's not fair to us to keep trying to see if someone likes it and keep doing all these nonsense things to try to feel out the situation. We should have to do all these things just to see if like a fish, they'll bite at one of them and finally realize they like us. Nope. Not anymore.

We are going to stop making excuses for them. No more of that, they're busy and work is hard, that's why they aren't picking up their phone. It's totally fine if they leave us on reading until they are bored and feel like answering us again.

YEAH, that's done with. If they say they're too tired to go out on a proper date and just want to stay in and Netflix and chill with you when you know deep inside that something will probably happen, we are not going to give in just because they are tired.

You know what staying in with that man means, and unless that is what you truly want and are looking for, you're not going to change your plans. You're going to reschedule until he isn't "tired." However, if this is a reoccurring thing him just wanting to stay in and "cuddle" with you, you should re-evaluate that situation completely.

No more waiting until he feels finally ready to accept what you guys are. If the chemistry is there, but you know that things probably aren't going to change. No more waiting. If he wants to be with you, he should.

You should want a man that isn't going to make you wait. We deserve a man that wants to spend time with you and share his life with you. Even when he is too busy, he should still make that small bit to at least ask you how your day was and let you know, he misses you. You shouldn't be his entire life, but you should be living his life with him, beside him, as equals.

When that really cute guy you just met, talks to you back and asks you to come over and it's past 9 pm, you say no. No, sleeping with him isn't going to suddenly make him fall in love with you. Hey though, if you want him and you want to bop him, you go ahead. You're in charge and you're the boss. What I'm saying is don't let that man walk all over you in hopes that this new random guy will want you too. We are worth a daytime date.

Put yourself out there, and let them come to you. Tell that guy in class you think he is cute! Get that number from that cute guy you had a great conversation with at that party. Ask that person if they ever wanted to come hang out with you and your friends, or even get a coffee. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there.

By all means, though, protect your heart, and don't forget you are in control. Once you've put yourself out there, you don't need to do anything else. If he isn't chomping at the bit to be with you, then it is time to move onto the next. You're going to find someone so much better.

So ladies, let's do this. No more guys making us feel inferior, because they will not without our consent. No more saying yes to the guy who only wants us for one night. No more waiting around for that guy because he said he wanted to be a part of your future with you. Even if he seems perfect, actions speak louder than words. This year, we got this.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
