Call me old fashioned, but I hate the feminist movement. Yes, I am a woman. Yes, I love being a woman, and that’s exactly why I disagree with mostly everything extreme feminists are arguing.
The most common argument I see regarding feminism is we are capable of doing everything men can do and we should be treated like it. I don’t know about you, but I embrace my feminine side. I like not being able to fix a truck or leaky faucet. I like helping my dad pick out a tie in the morning. I like relying on men for certain things and appreciate that they can rely on me too. The truth is we aren't meant to do everything a man can do. If God thought we were capable of everything, why in the world would he create Adam and Eve? Why wouldn't we just be a society of all women?
I can’t completely discount some of the ideas feminists present because some are a problem. Yes, I would love to have the same salary as a man at the same skill level. No, I don’t like being told I can’t do things simply because of my gender. It is the way these ideas are presented with such hypocrisy. The feminist movement preaches gender equality while completely degrading males in the process. How can you say you want to be treated equal and continue to say that women are capable of more than men? Some consistency in your argument would be refreshing.
The truth is, I don’t want to be considered equal. I want to be praised for my specialties as a woman. I wouldn't mind being a stay at home mom. I don’t mind working in jobs that are stereotypical for women. I’m not going to make it my mission to prove my worth by succumbing to the role of men. I plan to prove my worth being the makeup-loving, cleaning, cooking, woman that I am.
