Dear Period aka "monthly gift" (because apparently, we should be grateful for you),
If you are a gift from mother nature, could you please be a little bit more gentle with our bodies? I know it's only a week of horror and pain, but what did we do to make you so angry? Trust me, if we could check a box stating that periods weren't necessary then yes ma'am, I would. But for now, chill because really, you actually hurt.
We have been "frenemies" since late middle school, and I say frenemies because I suppose you are the one to clean my body and make it healthy, while also putting me in a lot of pain and moods. I assumed that I might get used to having you around after a long period of time, but oddly enough, it is like the first time every time. Sure, I now have a tracker on my phone, but there have been times that it lies and you decide to ruin my clothing once again. Let's also mention the incredible amount of mood swings you like to give me. I thought you only got mood swings when you were pregnant but I guess you get the same effects whether you are pregnant or not. But honestly, can you not? I really don't enjoy the incredibly random transition on anger, sadness, happiness, anxiety and basically every "Inside Out" character. You have made me make some stupid decisions just because of these mood swings. Or when I am trying to try on some new cute jeans and you make me bloated as hell. Are you trying to kill my self-esteem? I hate looking at a bloated stomach, plus when my clothes decide they are too small to fit me when you come along. The worst part, I can't run it off because I know it's not fat, it's just...you.
How about you making my breasts feel like weights, now that hurts. You have no idea what it is like to just walk and feel them move in soreness. Sometimes we can't even touch them with out crying. This may just be psychological, but I have definitely felt my body temperature change like my mood swing. One minute I'm really cold and another minute I can't even have a blanket touching me. Now this I am not sure what it has to do with the whole period thing, but I feel it. I have also felt that certain parts of my body are itchy and then it disappears, please tell me I am not alone on this one. And we can't forget those cramps that feel like the worst stomach aches that always come back.
Anyways, I guess if you think about it after all the pain we girls go through in a week, it is only because our body is just helping us out...in a painful way. Sure, most of the side effects aren't totally necessary but I mean there is not much to do about it. Having your period once a week just gives you the ability to eat whatever you want and everyone understands, if they are a girl that is.
