Dear High School Senior,

You played a hard game. Congratulations on years worth of hard work and determination. I know you just played your last game and yes it's hard. Sometimes we come up short and the score isn't the one we want, but the world isn't over. The feeling you have right now Is all the memories flooding back in. All those days of practice and long bus rides you forgot. You're finally remembering those memories after all this time. Shedding a little tear isn't always bad. Those memories are so amazing sometimes that's what it takes, but that doesn't mean you should be sad forever. You have a whole semester in front you to look forward to. Just remember these two things and don't ever forget those memories.

Number One: You should be proud of yourself. You'll be a little sad at fist, but you can't stay that way. You stayed committed and didn't let your team down. Don't put the whole weight of a loss on yourself. Football is a team effort and your coaches are proud of all of your accomplishments. The best thing is your family is immensely proud of you. They have been on this journey with you since the beginning. Be proud of yourself. Go tell those football stories to all your friends. Let them know how proud they should be. Don't tear yourself down, be proud.

Number Two: At times we get so caught up in our emotions that life just doesn't seem right. Just because you've reached then end of this road it doesn't mean you can't make a new route and find your way. This is not the time to turn back around and go back down the same path you just successfully completed. High School is about preparing you for the future. In life you can't keep turning around and trying to relive the past. You'll never be able to reach the goals set forth in front of you if you keep looking back. Next semester will be coming up soon and then graduation. You'll be up and making new stories to tell soon. So don't take any moment for granted. Senior year is the best year. Keep moving forward and take your memories along the way.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
