Ever since I was a little girl, I have been a hopeless romantic. My relationship dreams came true before my very eyes. Yes, I am the girl in a long term relationship. Yes, I am in college. Yes, I started dating my boyfriend when I was 15. Yes, I am in love.
When you're young in a long term relationship, people always have something to say. "You guy are still together?" "Don't you get bored?" "When's the wedding?"
Being in a long term relationship is amazing. People often wonder why I would want to "waste" my time being with just one person. They think that since I'm so young I should wait to settle down and be committed, but I don't see it that way at all. People who don't just have one person to experience life with are the ones missing out.
I love my relationship. I love being so comfortable with someone. I love having a significant other and a best friend all in one. I love having someone who I can act like I'm five with. I love having someone who knows me better than anyone else. I love that my family is like his own. I love that he fights with my little sister like they're siblings. I love that we're a package deal. I love who I am when I'm with him. I just love us.
People always think being in a long term relationship means you're missing out, but I don't think I'm missing out on anything. I can do almost anything a single person can, I just always have a partner in crime to experience it with. I'd rather go on adventures and wake up next to the same person every day for the rest of my life than waste my time with someone new every night.
Being with one person for such a long time can be tough. The sense of comfort can get to you and you often find yourselves acting like an old married couple. Bickering and getting stuck in a routine can happen, but it's just important to keep working at it and never give up.
Overall, being with the one person for a long period of time is amazing. Long term relationships at a young age shouldn't be looked down upon. I'm not missing out on experiencing life, I just have someone to experience it with.
