Thank you for working a double shift every day for me.
The roles of a sister and mom are distinct but you seem to intertwine them in a way that labels you both to me.
As a sister, you have instilled lessons in me that I would not have learned without you.
You taught me how to be confident in myself and in my actions.
You showed me how to handle situations you had previously experienced.
You allowed me to learn how to make decisions for myself.
And for a sister like that, I couldn’t be more thankful.
As a second mother, you put those lessons you taught me into action.
While Mom handles the important aspects of my life, you took on the petty situations that I thought were important at the time. And to me that means more than you know. Now I know how insignificant those situations were, but you still dedicated yourself in helping me fight those battles.
Whether it was a fight with my friends to how to answer a boy’s text, you were there for however long I needed you.
And I truly needed you. I still do.
Even though you take on these two roles, you know where the line is divided. And that’s what means the most.
When I need a sister, you are my best friend. When I need some guidance, you are my second mother.
How you do both… well, that’s why I look up to you.
