With the Cleveland Cavaliers being reigning NBA Champions, and the Cleveland Indians currently in the 2016 World Series against the Chicago Cubs, let's take a look at this amazing track record of sports teams in Ohio RIGHT NOW...
Cleveland Cavaliers - Earlier this year, the Cavs won the NBA finals with a little help from Akron guy: Lebron James. Not only was this an emotional win for Lebron, being from the Cleveland-Akron area, it more importantly broke the 52 year championship drought that Cleveland was seemingly under the curse of. It was the longest running drought in ALL OF SPORTS.
Cleveland Indians - Right now, in the same year that the Cavs brought home a trophy, the Cleveland Indians are battling it out with the Chicago Cubs in the 2016 World Series. It might be considered the most anticipated World Series of all time. Chicago has not been to the World Series since 1945 and haven't won a World Series since 1908! It is the longest pennant drought in baseball. And guess who has the second longest drought? That's right, the Cleveland Indians, who haven't won the Pennant since 1948.
Columbus Crew - Ended last season in the MLS Cup Final, but lost to the Portland Timbers.
Cleveland Monsters - The previously named the Lake Erie Monsters, are defending American Hockey League Calder Cup Champions. The AHL is the primary developmental league of the NHL, in which the Columbus Blue Jackets are no strangers to postseason berth.
Cleveland Browns - At an embarrassing 0-7 start to the football season, the Browns are in a prime seat to receive the first overall pick of the 2017 Draft, which to some Clevelanders is more important at this point than having a winning season.
And last but certainly not least...
Ohio State Buckeyes - 2014-15 National Champions, the NCAA Division 1 Football organization is having another great year, even after suffering a heartbreaking loss to Penn State last week, the Bucks remain 6th ranked in the nation.
Needless to say, Ohio has become in the past few years the center of the sports world, and its truly a unique phenomenon that is not going unnoticed.
