Whether you're going out with friends for a night on the town or are attending the bash of the year, waking up the next morning without a hangover or regrets can be a tall order. With a few precautions, the biggest of these regrets can be the homework that you have neglected and now have to tackle. But what are the secrets to no important regrets?

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Most of the hangover associated with drinking is actually dehydration. Alcohol dehydrates you, causing a pounding headache, dizziness, and nausea. You can avoid this by staying properly hydrated throughout the evening and especially after you come in for the night. Drink plenty of water before bed and right after waking up to avoid a horrendous hangover.

Don't Forget to Eat

Drinking on an empty stomach is never a good idea. Have a light meal before going out for the night and, if at all possible, have a good snack ready and waiting when you return. It might even be a good idea to take a couple granola bars or something else with you, especially if you don’t want to pay for food while you are out, and you don’t know what will be available. Carbohydrates are a good choice, but try to avoid grease as it may make you feel sick if you've been partying.

Always Have a Designated Driver

A designated driver could be someone out with you who isn't drinking, or it could be someone who agrees to come get you and take you home once you're done for the evening. Either way, have their number nearby and make sure you use it. Nothing is worse than ending a great evening with a car accident or dealing with the fines and jail time that come with a DUI. Even if you normally use public transportation, it is a good idea to have a designated driver, in case you drink so much that you can’t remember how to get home, you get lost, or you end up somewhere you don’t have access to go public transit.

You Don’t Have to Stay

We all have a little voice inside our head that tells us when something isn't right. If you feel uncomfortable with a certain person or situation, it's time to either move on or call an end to your night out. While you don't need to be paranoid, there's no reason to be uncomfortable when you are supposed to be having fun.

Call It a Night

If you start to feel unwell during the evening or you are just tired, don't be afraid to call it a night and head home. Just because others want to close down the bars doesn't mean you have to. Being tired or slightly unwell may be your body's way of telling you that you have had enough. Going home, eating, hydrating, and then going to bed is the best thing to do.

Partying can be a great time, but there's always the possibility of a mishap. By keeping these tips in mind, you can have a great night with no major regrets the next day.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
