I Don’t Need A Fancy Wedding That Costs $50,000, All I Need Is A Man In Front Of Me That Loves Me

A wedding is party where people share the joy of you and your partner, so tell me why I need to spend all my life's saving on one day?

With shows like "Four Weddings" and "Say Yes To The Dress," it can be hard to imagine what your wedding will actually be in the future. Not everyone can afford to rent a multi-million dollar mansion or buy a $15,000 wedding dress.

When I was younger, I envisioned my wedding to be like those I saw on television, in a sense, my own fairytale. Flowers, fairy lights, a beautiful wedding dress…and while that can still be a possibility in the future, I do not need to spend $50,000 on a wedding. Especially being in college now, I realize how expensive things are and realize that I would rather spend my money on other things.

People may disagree, but I believe that a wedding is simply a party, sharing your joy and happiness with people that you know and love. And while the concept of a wedding is a couple becoming married, I feel as though on the day of your wedding, you will not feel completely different. It could be different if you start to now live with your spouse, or decide to save yourselves for each other until your wedding night. But, in this generation, you see a couple moving in together before they are even engaged!

And while years ago I would have found this strange, I now see that this makes complete sense! How do you know you are okay living with your spouse if you have never lived with them before? Will they place the toilet paper over versus under? Will they wash their dishes and clean up after themselves?

Both you and your significant other have a bond that you will keep for the rest of your lives. In reality, you could be basically "married" for years, the wedding simply being a party for others to celebrate your joy.

It's all about us, our love. While a fairytale wedding can be beautiful, it is just a waste of money. All the gifts that you receive from your friends and family are most likely compensating for the extreme amount of money you spent on the wedding.

And don't get me wrong, I would want my family and close friends at my wedding, but the most important person in attendance is my fiancé. A wedding is one day out of your whole life. Fewer people equals less stress. And let's be honest, have you ever seen a bride that was not stressed or all in shambles?

So no, I do not need a fancy wedding that costs $50,000, all I need is a man in front of me that loves me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
