As high-profile NFL superstars take a stand against domestic violence, I believe that they are successfully resurrecting their image as role models. It is apparent that the majority of the NFL's fan base consists primarily of males. These talented men are seen as heroes to men of all ages and they have the ability to influence the behavior of those that look up to them.
Due to the recent events that have placed the NFL under close examination, I think that it was time that some of these players show that not every football star resorts to domestic violence. The No More campaign does just that. The players that are willing to stand up for a cause that appears to recently be prevalent in the NFL shows that not all who play the same sport act the same way.
The fact that this particular PSA is scheduled to run during games, as well as it's future plans of running in print ads, is definitely going to change the way the public views NFL players. I believe this to be true because they are reaching the demographic that is most susceptible to following the actions of these men, who remain their role models, as well as being susceptible to engage in domestic violence.
As the popularity of this No More PSA increases, I think that the number of NFL stars taking a stand will increase as well. Not only are these players influential people to fans, but they are also influential men to their teammates. Their statements could cause many to become aware of the signs that are associated with domestic violence. They could also be the ones to put an end to it.
Although the public may not believe that this is an effective way to approach the issues that are present in the NFL, this is a decent way to start. At least these particular players are not making excuses for their fellow football friends. Instead, they are standing up and stating, "No more."
