With 2016 finally behind us, a New Year brings about changes and the unpredictable future. And with every New Year comes the optimistic wish to keep and maintain a well thought up New Years Resolution. Whether it is about weight loss or to become a millionaire, the goals set to be accomplished in 365 days are usually forgotten by day 4. So instead of the far reaching (though beautifully creative) resolutions made each year, here are some easy ways to keep on track and make 2017 a better year.

1. Drink water

Though it sounds incredibly easy, water is super important. Water not only keeps you super hydrated, it helps regulate your body's functions and helps your skin. It also helps with weight loss. So introducing more water to your daily life is super beneficial, and if you're not good at sticking to a diet, this is an easy way to start nourishing your body.

2. Less social media

Crazy I know, what an idea. Taking a break from social media could really change your perspective for the New Year. No I don't mean suddenly go cold turkey from the fun Snapchat filters, but maybe chose a day to enjoy those around you more and not document every moment. Even a few hours a week could alter both your subtle dependency on social media and the constant cultural desire to seem popular to impress other.

3. Coupons are your friends

Though you'll feel like a mom, collecting coupons are extremely helpful, and now it's so easy to find them. There are apps and websites that have discounts and coupons for practically everything. Even if its only 5 dollars off, saving the most money you can will help in the long run. Coupons are also really helpful for those who suck at maintaining a budget, they allow you to still buy what you want but also helps save you money.

4. Walk more

Exercise is horrible, I know, but throwing in a walk in your daily habits can be super beneficial to you. Walk to the grocery or the library, walk to campus or even walk your dog around the block. A quick walk can increase your energy and improve your sleeping patterns. If your goal was to also lose weight but you can't keep to a diet or an exercise regime, taking more walks can be your easy form of exercise for the day.

5. Books are important

Give your eyes a break from the bright screens of the tv or your laptop and pick up a book. Yes, like an actual book. It could be anything, like that book you need to read for class or even a magazine you've been meaning to read. Reading lets you escape from the real world in the most pure way, igniting your imagination and letting you relax.

Though they seem silly and way to easy to actually have any impact on the New Year, following and remembering these easy tricks can save you money, make you healthier and let you unwind from the real world. A New Year is exciting and should bring about change, but this time make sure its the changes you want and you stick to the resolutions that make you happier,

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
