A New Year, A New Day

If you want to change, then change

A New Year, A New Day
Lindsey Jaye

Waking up New Year's Day didn't feel any different. There's the feeling of having to do all these new things and cut certain things out of my life, but for the most part, it's just another day. The new year is great for restarting and recharging, but the funny thing is that everyday could be a "new year day" because everyday is a new day full of all new things. Every morning when you wake up it is a new day. We mess up our new year's resolution and think that we have to wait until the new year to stop something or start something again when in reality, you can get up everyday feeling like it is a new year.

If you want to cut something out of your life like say soda or coffee, just cut it out. If you mess up and drink some because you're dying for a Venti drink at Starbuck's, then just admit that you messed up and cut it out again. Don't make it an endless cycle of cutting it out then "messing up" and cutting it out again though. Genuinely take something out of your life and try hard to not have any soda or coffee or whatever it might be.

The same goes for starting something. For me, I was to start exercising again. Yes, that is the majority of people's resolution, but it is a good one. Exercise is good for you. Getting fresh air and walking is good for you. Good things tend to be hard for us to do, but if you make that goal then complete it.

In this time we live in we tend to set goals, but never complete them because we become lazy or busy. The hustle and bustle of life gets to us and we think we can't go it anymore, but if you set a time each day to do something, I guarantee it will be a whole lot easier then not setting a reminder to do it. Even just setting a reminder on your phone to say, "Read a Chapter" or "Drink Water" and actually doing it when it pops up and not ignoring it will make you feel much more satisfied then if you didn't do it.

Let this year be a time to set goals and complete them. Set a reminder and don't ignore it. Say you're going to do something and do it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
