People sometimes feel as though they can’t be alone. The fact is, people who can’t stand to be alone have to surround themselves with so many people. Yes, it is wonderful to have people around you, to have friends, laughter, a great time; but there are moments where there needs to be recollection and observation time for yourself. Go out into the city, eat brunch alone, go read a book in the park; it is good for the soul.
When you’re around people sometimes, you can sit and drink a cup of tea, eat some macaroons, and talk. When you're alone, you can contemplate and have a moment to actually enjoy every bite, savor every bite, and think about things that you never allow yourself to or you just don’t have the time to actually think about them. These peaceful moments are not to be wasted. Save them like photos from your best snapchat post. Save them forever. One day, you will have a family, a spouse, a partner, and moments like these will be scarce. If you already have a family or a partner or spouse, find moments to recognize yourself. Being continuously with the same people or continuously with people in general sometimes lets you lose yourself a little. You start acting like the people you hang out with, which sometimes is not necessarily a bad thing, but you are still losing yourself in the meantime. If you want that change, you should be able to recognize it yourself. Don't allow someone else’s actions and thoughts to consume your own.
Throughout different friend groups that I have been a part of, I myself have seen a change whether it had been a good or a bad one. I now can start recognizing this change and do not allow the change to keep recurring. To stop this from happening, you need the moments as I wrote before. Is this really you? Is what you're doing right now, something you would have done prior to knowing these people? Use these as a starting point to see what I mean by the change. If it is something that could potentially benefit you, go for it, be brave. If it is something that you would have never thought to do and there are no benefiting results, don't. Stop yourself. Being alone sometimes is the best thing that you can do for yourself. Sounds cliché, but grab some tea, start a bubble bath and just enjoy your 'you' time.
