March Madness is here so clear your schedule and enjoy the abundance of games. Hopefully, you didn’t fill out too many brackets because chances are it’s already busted. You had no idea that there would be half court shots to win games and you'd witness one of greatest comebacks ever. But it happens and that’s what makes the tournament so great. Win or go home every game and if your team can click for six games straight they get to cut the nets down.
1. So many games!
Five years ago the NCAA expanded the tournament to 68 teams with the “The First Four” being played in Dayton. These games are now the opening of the month-long tourney. The first weekend is the best because it features the most games. On the first Thursday of the tournament games on from 12 am to 12 pm. The NCAA even has its own app for March Madness and a website that allows you to stream every single game.
2. Brackets
We all think that we can fill out a perfect bracket but chances are it won’t happen. This year I stuck to just making one bracket instead of ten like most people do. After the first weekend of play, there was not one bracket that remained perfect. My bracket busted after one of my Final Four pick Kentucky was bounced by Indiana.
3.Upsets
We all love seeing underdogs win and every year a team that we don’t know about comes out of nowhere to win a few games. The tournament starts with 68 teams, which includes mid-majors colleges and legendary universities. Which sets up a few David vs. Goliath scenarios. The idea that anything is possible is never truer than during this tournament. Three years ago it was as Florida Gulf Coast as David winning over Georgetown and year after that Mercer shocked the nation by taking down Duke.
On any given day anybody can win. This year a record 10 double-digit seeds won in the first round and two of those double-digit seeds Syracuse and Gonzaga advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. All season long parity in college basketball was shown throughout as top 25 teams lost more games than ever before and this past weekend the madness ensued. The biggest upset of all was Michigan State losing to Middle Tennessee State in the first round. Michigan State was chosen by many experts win the National Championship and werent able to live up to those expectations.
