We all have that second family we can go to, whether that be a friend group, a friend's or boyfriend's family, or just one really important person. They make who we are just as much as our biological family, maybe even more sometimes. Mine has made such a strong impact on my life I don't think I'd be the person I am without them. So I'd really like to thank you guys.
Thank you for everything you have done for me. For taking me in as if I was blood and making me feel welcome. Knowing you all for many years now has been such a blessing, and I couldn't be more grateful. You really have shaped who I am and helped me with things only a second family could. You called me out when I’m being ridiculous, just like a real family would, too. You helped me find God and gave me a place to worship him, both at camp and at church. You gave me a second home I always feel welcomed at, even under the circumstances for over a year now. I couldn't be more grateful for the overwhelming love and compassion.
To my second mom: You've been there for me with so many things. Thank you for noticing the little things I couldn't bring myself to face, for always checking on me when I needed it the most. Thank you for the worried thoughts and concerns. Although I came off as annoyed, I've always truly appreciate it like with my own mom. You can always read me and genuinely know my personality and soul. I've enjoyed every moment and laughter with you. Thank you for letting me be me. And thank you for just being you, the kind-hearted amazing soul that you are.
To my second dad: We've always had the best conversations. You're passion for music has always been inspirational to me for my own art and passions. You alway know how to make me laugh when I've needed it. To have you in my life couldn't be more of a blessing and to have another father figure is really so amazing. Also, your bear hugs instantly make me in a better mood. Thank you for always checking on me and seeing how college is—it does and always will make my day.
To my second brother: I don't have a little brother so you've given me the joy of having one and getting on my nerves every so often. It's hard to believe you've been in my life since you were a freshman in high school and now you're graduating in a month. Wow, how time flies. Thank you for treating me like your sister and even messing with me like a sibling. You can always put a smile on my face no matter the situation. Seeing you grow up to the guy you are now has been crazy, and I really am proud of you. You worry me sometimes, especially hurting yourself in soccer all the time, but that's because I love you so much. Thank you for it all.
This year will be four years you all have been in my life, and no amount of words can describe how grateful I am for the acceptance. Thank you for taking me on trips, the family dinner game nights, and the checkups when I'm gone for so long. I know you’ll always be in my life no matter where I end up because I'll want you there. I thank God every day for having such a great family to lean on. Thank you for everything, and I love you all.
