My Response To Colin Kaepernick

When protesting the flag seems to be the only thing Americans have left to get attention.

"If any of my players sit on the bench for the national anthem, they will sit there for the rest of the game." - John Tortorella

Hey! Yes, I'm talking to you Colin Kaepernick. You think you've started some kind of patriotic stand against this great country we live in, don't you? Well, guess what, you haven't! No one cares what you think Colin. Those who do — I wonder if they realize that they only get to do that BECAUSE we live in a free nation. You know, protesting the national anthem takes some serious guts. Don't you realize Colin? You get to do that BECAUSE of the freedom this country gives to sorry people like you. You get to play football, because of this freedom. The same freedom you don't have any respect for. You disgust me, Colin. Honestly, you do. I mean if the injustice this country gives you is so bad, why don't you just leave? Oh wait, I know why. Because if you leave you won't be making $11,900,000 dollars every year. Not like you need it though, right? I'm sure you've made enough to last you a lifetime. You don't deserve the right to make that kind of money honestly. Not like you appreciate this country enough to be grateful for what you earn here in America.

You make me sick.

I love football Colin, but you. You are NOT someone who should be a role model for little boys and girls. You are NOT someone who should be allowed to even step onto a football field, or be in a commercial advertising football, or the National Football League for that matter. You are certainly not like every other American I've met. You are not someone who is GRATEFUL for what has been given to them BY this country. Honestly, the only people I've met or seen like you that are American, are the ones who think this country owes them an apology. The ones who think this country has done them so wrong that they need to stomp on, or burn the American flag. People like that, like you, do not deserve to live in this great country. I am PROUD of where I come from. I am certainly proud to say that my country gives me the ability to be as free as I want without being persecuted. Doesn't that sound nice? Not being persecuted for standing up for what you believe in? Because I assure you, Colin, if you lived in another country right now, you might not be so lucky when you protest the flag, or the anthem. So maybe, instead of trying to list off all the awful things this country has supposedly done to you, and others who think the same as you, which is NOTHING, maybe you should be grateful for all the wonderful things this country HAS done for you like pay you. Maybe you should be grateful for the MEN AND WOMEN who have put their lives and limbs on the line so YOU can get paid $11 Million to sit on your butt and protest the flag and anthem. Maybe you should be GRATEFUL for the men and women who lose their lives EVERY. SINGLE. DAY so you don't shot or bombed by a terrorist when you are sitting there on the bench protesting the national anthem, or playing on the field still trying to protest because you feel butthurt.

You are not anything special, Colin. And you protesting the flag, is not anything special either.

God Bless America everyone.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
