To The Love Of My Life

You will never fully understand how much you mean to me. But I will do my best and try to explain

To The Love Of My Life
Alexis Wheeler

When we first met we were just two Sophomore high schoolers not having a care in the world. If someone would have asked me four years ago if I would be with you, I'd probably say "hell no."

Then July 30th, 2016 rolled around and I ran into you when I was at my worst, my breaking point. I was going out every night, not caring about myself and broken down to pieces from a previous relationship. At that point, I didn't think I was going to make it. I thought everything was over for me and then you turned my whole life around.

What even is love?

Love to me is what I have with you. You have taught me how to love by showing me how to put someone else's happiness before my own. It's about building their life for the better and learning to work collaboratively with one another to achieve the greatest things life has to offer.

I thought I knew what love was before I met you, but I was completely wrong. You've shown me to not only how to love you, but to love myself too. You’ve brought out a side in me that I never thought I would find again. I've realized that sometimes you have to reach your darkest part of your life to find the light you need to remind you why you're here. This light reminds you that everything will be okay and that you can get through it. And that's you.

Because of you, I have found a reason to live again and not focus on the things that I cannot control. You have loved me at both my highest and my lowest points. I know it is not the easiest to deal with me all the time and for that, you deserve an award. You make me feel like no one else in the world matters. You remind me every day how much I'm loved. You always push me to be my very best person and to pursue all of my dreams. You make me want to give my all in everything I do, so I can make you proud.

So, you deserve a huge thank you.

Thank you for not only being my best friend but for being my role model to help me shape my life into someone I've always wanted to be. You will always be my greatest blessing and my reminder of why I'm meant to be here. And for that, I'll love you forever.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
