Summer is here and if you're like me, it gets you in the mood to travel. As I've written about in previous articles of mine, travel is something that I've always enjoyed and something that I would like to continue doing in my future. We all have those places that are near and dear to our hearts and that we want more than anything to see in our lifetime. For me, a lot of these places have to do with my roots. I've always wanted to visit the places where my ancestors hailed from as a way to connect myself to my past. I think it is important to know your own family history, because it is a major part of your identity. We all have bucket lists, whether it's a list of things you'd like to accomplish, or places that you want to see, we all have goals and our eyes set on greater things for our future. So here's my travel bucket list.
1. Ireland

2. Italy
Another one of my countries of heritage, but more outside of that, just simply the picturesque towns and valleys add a draw to Italy that I can't ignore.
3. Greece
While I have no connection to Greece, it's another one of those picturesque places that draws me in with the crystal clear water and bright blue skies. Even more so, the mediterranean has always mesmerized me, and mediterranean food has always been near and dear to my heart.
4. Britain
I also have some english in my blood, but even more than that, I feel like Britain is one of those cities that everyone should visit. It's full of history and it's close ties to American history draw me in even more.
5. France
Outside of Paris, there's still so much more to see of France. As a history major, one of my goals is to see and walk the beaches of Normandy, where the infamous World War II battle, D-Day, occurred.
6. Switzerland
Another one of those picturesque places that draws people in with its charm. It's hard to beat those images of nostalgic little towns and mystical mountain sides.
7. Norway
A country with a lot of history behind it. Norway has museums that display viking ships that date as far back as the ninth century. There's also the fact that you can see the Northern Lights, something that I think most people have on their bucket list as well.
8. Amsterdam
Though it's not a country, Amsterdam still seems like one of the most fun places you could visit. It's got a youthful and vibrant feeling to it, despite the fact that it's been around since the Middle Ages.
9. Australia
Australia is another one of those places that just seems like so much fun to visit. I've always dreamed of seeing the Outback and running into some kangaroos.
10. China

History has quite the home in China. Centuries old, there are endless sights to see and history to learn. One of the things that is a must see is certainly the Great Wall, and the Forbidden City as well.
So there's my travel bucket list! What's yours?
