Music To My Ears

If anyone knows me, they know that I love music. I live to perfect my playlists on Spotify, and I gladly and proudly pay $10 a month for it. It is a necessity. I actually performed my own research to see if I could live without it for a month... I couldn't. My obsession with music is so serious that I refuse to listen to the regular radio. When my dad and I bought my car a couple years ago, my only stipulation was that the car had to have some way for me to play my music. I would have driven a cardboard box as long as it had an aux cord. Needless to say that we had to replace the stereo. Again, Dad, you have had something to put up with over the years. I probably destroyed my old desktop computers back in the day when LimeWire was still a thing. Couldn't live without that either; iPod was always fresh and updated.

Anyway, I've decided to share with you some of my favorites. Some, old that never get old, and some, new; some, you may have heard of, and some, you might not have.

1. Knives - Matoma

When I lived back in Puerto Rico last winter I probably listened to this song at least 3 times a day and I still do. Hasn't gotten old yet. Which is why it makes the number one spot.

2. I See Fire - Ed Sheeran (Kygo Remix)

Sadly, not on Spotify.

3. Count me In - Rebelution

4. Help Me Lose My Mind - Disclosure

5. Yellow Ledbetter - Pearl Jam

6. Light it Up (feat. Nyla & Fuse ODG) [Remix] - Major Lazer

Major Lazer. Enough said.

7. Wherever You Go - Sublime with Rome

8. Don't Wanna See Your Face - John Butler Trio

9. Slow Ride - Beastie Boys

10. End of the World - Dirty Heads

11. Somebody Else - The 1975

12. Anything Iration

(would pretty much just have to list every single song)

13. Runaway - Matt Kearney

14. Sleepless - CAZZETTE

15. Hey Ya - OutKast

(yes.)

16. Big Eyed Fish - Dave Matthews Band

17. Real World - Matchbox 20

18. Photograph - Def Leppard

19. Stone Love - Pepper

20. Can't Stop & By the Way - Red Hot Chilli Peppers

(Best concert of my life and just two of my favorites, bless these guys for creating jams since the 80's.)

21. Burning down the House - Talking Heads

22. Anything 2 Chainz

(Titty Boi)

23. Sloth's Revenge - Dirty Heads

24. So Bad (EDWYNN x TIKAL x Spirix Remix) - Brandon Skeie

25. Beautiful Now - Zedd

26. Clarity - Zedd

(this song has made me and Alex cry on a couple occasions while seeing Zedd live) .........

27. 212 - Azalea Banks

(college anthem that will never die)

28. Gooey, Hazey, Pools, Life Itself, Black Mambo, Youth and pretty much anything else by Glass Animals

29. Pretty much anything Twenty One Pilots as well.

30. Working for it - ZHU

31. Midnight Hour - SDIB

32. 40 Day Dream - Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros

33. Gold on the Ceiling - The Black Keys

34. Breathless - Bassnectar, DC Breaks, Mimi Page

35. I Believe - SOJA, Micheal Franti, Nahko

That's just to name a few. They're not necessarily in any order, but they're all my favorites, none the less.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
