MSTRKRFT

MSTRKRFT (pronounced Master-craft) is a Canadian electronic music duo with few words. They let their music speak for themselves, bringing fans together to enjoy, embrace, and vibe out to their killer sets. The two came up together in Toronto's incestuous punk scene, flitting between a variety of bands that comprised more or less different combinations of the same eight people. They bonded 20 years ago over a mutual love for electronic music. Operator is their third album and first in seven years. It's a re-introduction to the Canadian duo's sound, that has been redefined.

The duo just arrived in Brooklyn, for a two-day performance. The first night was at Mixmag Lab NYC, the second night was at Webster Hall. Both performances were incredible, the craft in their sets were dark, thrilling, powerful, and stunning. On Friday Sept. 9, in a live exclusive performance at Mixmag Lab NYC, MSTRKRFT delivered. The small venue filled up quickly, everyone was vining out and having a great time. Feet were constantly moving, people were grooving, the first night was a real treat. Check out their live recorded performance at Mixmag Lab NYC.

Saturday, September 10, Gotham night at Webster Hall in New York City. MSTRKRFT gave another breathtaking performance. The main room was transformed into an underground nightclub, bringing the scene back. The DJ deck was in the middle of the dance floor so fans could embrace that intimate connection between fan and artist. The room was blasting with the best songs from the duo. Not an unhappy face in the crowd, people’s hands were in the air, moving to the beat.

After 20 years of being together, they still manage to create magnificent music to this day. MSTRKRFT’s New York City was legendary and we hope they return soon. Be sure to listen to their newest track Runaway and to grab your own copy of Operator.HERE

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
