In 2019 it's no secret that "Netflix and chill" is the modern-day equivalent of going to the drive-in. Although you and your date might have no intention of actually watching what is on the TV, it can be a challenge to pick a movie to have in the background — at the very least.

A friend recently asked for my input on what movie to watch with a guy she's seeing and since I haven't had a boy-movie-invite in a while, naturally I turned to Google. I was disappointed. When I searched "movies to watch with a boy" it only returned results for "movies to watch with your boyfriend." Google, stop trying to define the relationship. It's just a movie night! What's the next search result, "movies to watch with my husband, three kids, golden retriever, and white picket fence"? Slow your roll.

Since there seems to be a lack of good recommendations of movies to watch with a boy who you're not yet officially dating but are on a date with, here's the list for you... (especially because one of my search results suggested "Despicable Me 2," which would be a horrible idea. I had to save you guys from that embarrassment).

1. Anything from the "Fast and Furious" franchise

This is good because there is just enough action to inspire you to take action. If Vin Diesel can drive his car off a bridge and stick the landing then why shouldn't you lean in for the kiss?

2. A comedy special

There are so many great specials on Netflix. I love Kevin Hart, Chris D'elia, Iliza Schlesinger, and Jim Gaffigan. This is a good idea if you're a little nervous because these people are sure to keep you laughing.

3. “Mean Girls," “Clueless,” or another chick flick

These can be fun if he has never seen them and kind of wants to watch, then it gives him an excuse!

4. "Identity Theft"

This movie is hysterical and who doesn't love Melissa Mcarthy?!

5. "The Hangover"

Scared you're awkward? At least you're not waking up on the roof of a hotel in Las Vegas. Watching this movie will make you feel better about the situation at hand and like you're excelling at life.

6. "Friends"

Who doesn't love "Friends"? This is also a good way to test if he is crazy because if you don't like "Friends," you're getting sent home. This is also a good one if you don't expect to actually watch much because you've probably already seen the show!

7. Anything but your go-to favorites, especially not "The Notebook"

If things go south with this person, then you won't be able to watch it anymore because it'll make you think of the one time you watched it with Josh. Also, avoid anything too romantic. It will put pressure on your potential relationship and that's not ideal.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
