Running sucks. Songs don't.

So Summer's here and, of course, everyone's trying to achieve that perfect beach body. Now, I'm not one to encourage people to stress about how they look. But, I know working out can make anyone feel better and that's what really matters.

All though we all know exercising is good for us, it's hard to stay motivated. So, in order to get you through that excruciating hour on the treadmill, here are some great songs to get you pumped up and keep you going.

Let's start off with one of my favorites,

1) "Hall of Fame" ft. Will.i.am by the Script

It's weird to think that The Script can be such a motivation workout song, considering their usual chill vibe, but this one will push you to your limits. The best line, in my opinion, is "You could go the distance/ You could run the mile/ You could walk straight through hell with a smile". It's empowering and it's intense.

I'll fully support this next one with a personal testimony.

2) "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'Em Up)" by Fall Out Boy

is the song that I look forward to most in my workout playlist (other than whatever is the last one)

So you know how pretty much every FOB song has that one moment? Like that really awesome second that's everyone's favorite? In this song, it's the pause between 'my songs know what you did in the dark' and 'light em up' near the end. It's those few seconds where just the drums are going and it's pure bliss and everything is perfect. And it's the moment that I jump up and try to land all cool-like back on the moving belt.

This next one might have been way overplayed during it's prime, but it's has this excitement that I haven't been able to find in another song. It's

3) "Can't Hold Us" by Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis

What makes "Can't Hold Us" such a great workout song? Well, it's mostly random catchy lyrics, but there is the one powerful line: "Learn from that failure gain humility and then we keep marching ourselves". Even though it's a very fun, light-hearted song, it's nice to be reminded that even even when you trip up (figuratively or literally because those treadmills are really tricky), all that matters is whether you pick yourself up again or not.

4) "Cake by the Ocean" by DNCE

might suggest some unhealthy options, but just remind yourself that eating clean will put you in a better mood...that being said, this is a great song to run to!

There's not much to say about this one. It's just a feel-good song! It's upbeat and it'll make you smile (if it's even physically possible to smile during a workout).

Best for last? Of course!

5) "Till I Collapse" by Eminem

is the last song in my playlist because I know I need something to push me to the finish line. This rap does just that.

The intro itself is motivating: "Cause sometimes you just feel tired, you feel weak/ And when you feel weak you feel like you want to just give up/ But you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength/ And just pull that sh*t out of you and get that motivation to not give up/ And not be a quitter, no matter how bad you want to just fall flat on your face and collapse". Eminem, as we all know, is not one to sugar-coat things. So as you're just finishing up your workout, listen to him as he raps "This is your moment and every single minute you spittin'/ Trying to hold onto it 'cause you may never get it again" and remember that you're working towards building a better you!

Good luck on your summer workouts and don't forget that your mental and physical health come first. Don't be afraid to take a day off when you know you need it. Keep going and fight for what you deserve!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
