To Mom And Dad, From The Sorority Recruitment Process Your Daughter Trusts And So Should You

Dear Mom and Dad,

I know you miss your baby girl. You probably just dropped her off. I know it's hard. Thanks for letting her come down early. You should be really proud of how you prepared her for this week. I know you didn't believe she would need that portable fan but I saw her using it today. I know you think you are not there, but I saw you when she walked through the doors of each house today. You did a great job of building her confidence over 18 years. She has never drunk as many different types of ice water as she did over the past two days.

I so admire your daughter's caring heart. I love how my process helps educate her to the myriad philanthropy options we have. I feel like she will do great things.

Today your daughter was happy because she got to go to the Starbucks by Tut on her break. She knows caffeine helps her put her best foot forward, another lesson I'm sure you taught her.

It's sisterhood round and I'm really sorry I made your daughter cry. It happens all the time and I feel bad. Every house can't keep every girl, after all. But it will all be worth it in the end. And don't worry, she will know whether or not she is getting a bid. I don't want to hurt her.

I love the dress you helped her pick for preference day. I think she knows in her heart where she belongs. She will go to bed with the door song of her first choice house ringing in her head and butterflies in her stomach. I'm sorry in advance if you wind up standing at the wrong house lawn on Bid Day and having to make a mad dash for a different home in the oppressive Alabama heat. Hopefully, that does not happen but if it does I pray that sisterhood has water by the buckets. I really hope she gets her first choice! Fingers crossed!

Happy Bid Day! I'm exhausted and I know you are too. I know she appreciates the phone calls you endured. And I know they were worth it for the selfies she sent you each day. I know your family put a lot of time, money and hard work into me. I hope you take a moment on bid day to bask in this achievement. You made a dream happen for your little girl. She is happy. She is now a sorority girl! Get used to seeing monograms on everything and JNJ stealing all of her(your) money for T-shirts. Get ready to come to a Fried Friday!

Get ready for her to say thank you, and to say it a lot.

Sincerely,

The Sorority Recruitment Process

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
