I Miss Football Saturdays

Waking up on a game day is like waking up for Christmas.

I Miss Football Saturdays

With only one more home football game of the season, its safe to say I’m sad its over. Previous to my junior year, I had never attended a football game. As a splurge for myself, I bought tickets this season to watch our tigers wreak havoc against all other teams.

Nothing can bring a group of people together like grilled foods, fun games, and tiger football. Literally I’ve got to meet so many people, have so many laughs, and watch unforgettable moments happen. I won’t be able to attend the last game of the season during Thanksgiving Break against the University of Arkansas. Here are all of the things I am going to miss that we got to have during football season:

  1. I’m going to miss the smell of game day in the air. Nothing beats grilled hotdogs and burgers with fresh salsa and lots of chips!
  2. Walking around campus in black and gold and getting to see everyone as one is one of the best feelings in the world. I love being able to represent our school in such a positive way.
  3. I will miss face stickers, tiger ears, and extra hairspray! Waking up on a game day is like waking up for Christmas; you have all this bottled up excitement that you can’t wait to get out. My room will forever be a disaster due to changing outfits and losing my favorite lipsticks in my bottomless bag.
  4. I will forever miss walking into the stadium and hearing the crowd roar, the sound of popping popcorn, and the smell of sweet seat from the team.
  5. Nothing beats the boom of the cannon when we get a touchdown that always scares me to death. I love watching the flags get ran around the stadium and the people yelling MIZ-ZOU
  6. I never get tired of standing on my feet for 2 quarters and always feeling so tired. But it's entirely worth it when everyone is just as hyped as you are.
  7. One of the greatest feelings had to be the Mizzou vs. Georgia game when the stadium was tiger striped. Watching stripes of gold and black around the stadium was such a surreal feeling that although we seem so big, nothing was really able to compare size wise.
  8. Tigers, I know it been a hard season with a new coach BUT I expect a win from our last SEC game pretty please, from a forever tiger fan.

Let's finish the season strong because why not? We have such high expectations from you boys, the hogs really are not that cool!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
