Is it the Year of Redemption?

With the Michigan vs Michigan State game coming this Saturday, tensions are high in here in the state of Michigan. Even despite a 6-0 season for the Wolverines, and Spartans having a less than stellar season so far with a 2-4 record, as a Michigan fan I will still be sitting on the edge of my seat during the game.

Do I even need to mention last year’s last minute fumble?

Or the fact that the Spartans have not been beat by the Wolverines since 2012 and even that game was only a two point difference?

Despite these concerns, if the Wolverines continue to play the way they have been playing so far this season, it will be the year of redemption.

Some key players to look out for:

Jabrill Peppers #5 - A Heisman contender for sure, Peppers plays both sides of the field and he plays them exceedingly well. He can catch the ball, run with agility like no one else, and he dominates as a corner and a safety. Did I mention he was also put in as quarterback against Rutgers?

Jourdan Lewis #26 - Although he sat out the first few games due to a back injury, he has quickly proved his skill set as a corner. Some even go so far as to say he is the best corner in the country. I agree. Also did you catch his INSANE one handed interception against Wisconsin? Yes, the team would've been in better field position to score another touchdown had he simply batted the ball down but we didn't need the touchdown and would we really have wanted to take that catch away from him?

Amara Darboh #82 - Once he catches the ball, he is off. He does not make it easy for the defense to take him down. So far this season he has 400 total receiving yards and 5 touchdowns.

Kahlid Hill #80- Hill is the Red Zone King. With only 21 rushing and 66 receiving yards, Hill has 8 touchdowns this season. Just let that sink in.

Chris Wormley #43- Some players are just amazing at breaking through the line and reaching the quarterback. Wormley is one of those players. So far he has 3.5 sacks which may sound mediocre but how often can you avoid two grown men over 200 pounds whose only job is to block you AND have the time and energy to reach the QB?

Wilton Speight #3 - After winning the “QB Contest”, Speight has thrown 1,194 yards this season. Throwing the ball is nothing compared to his ability to read how the play is developing and make decisions based on it. When other quarterbacks would be forced to throw the ball away, Speight is able to spot an open player for him to throw to or lane for him to run himself.

Some other players to look out for:

Jake Butt #88

Jehu Chesson #86

Ty Issac #32

Taco Charlton #33

Rashan Gary #3

Ben Gedeon #42

All in all, this Michigan team is rather impressive. There is a lot of hard work and talent on this team and I for one, cannot wait to see what this team and these players are able to accomplish in the future.

Perhaps it is redemption time?

Bring it on Spartans. This year, we are ready.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
