The Miami Dolphins suffered a heartbreaking loss last Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. The Buffalo Bills defeated the Miami Dolphins in a blowout, 56-26. This was a team that was playing without their clutch card in Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was diagnosed with COVID-19.
This led to Tua Tagovailoa playing what can be considered a "lethargic" game where he threw for about 50 percent, with 3 interceptions. The rest of the offense was dropping passes and the offensive line failed miserably. The defense could do little to stop an inflamed Bills offense led by Josh Allen.
As a result of the loss, the Dolphins had to hope for a Ravens, Browns, or Colts loss, which of course did not end up happening. As a result, the Miami Dolphins were effectively eliminated from the playoffs this season.
Where the Dolphins go from here is debatable. The Dolphins, through the Laremy Tunsil trade with the Houston Texans has the 3rd overall pick. Some have said that the Dolphins should target Penei Sewell, a Left Tackle from the Univesity of Oregon. Sewell is described as a pernniel, generational talent who could fill a great need for the Miami Dolphins offensive line.
Another amazing option the Dolphins can pick up on is Wide Receiver, Devonta Smith from the University of Alabama. As of the writing of this article, Smith has just won the Heisman Award. He also has a personal connection with Tua Tagovailoa as he was on the team in Alabama when Tua led them to a National Championship in 2017. The Dolphins can take advantage of this connection and give Tua a reliable receiver he can target.
This season for the Dolphins was really hardbreaking but the future is still bright for this organization. They are still a team that went from rebuilding one season to contending for the playoffs the next season.
