Marijuana, weed, grass – whatever you may refer to it as, it’s a hot topic right now, and has been for a while. It is medicinally and recreationally legal in multiple states in America as well as other various locations across the world. And whether or not you support the legalization of marijuana or are completely against its use, I’m sure a lot of us can agree that using marijuana has a multitude of benefits. I’m not here to sway your personal beliefs, nor am I here to try and make you “smoke weed.” I am here to explain why weed can be (which has been scientifically proven to be) beneficial in multiple aspects of our lives.
When incorporated moderately into our lifestyle, marijuana can profoundly benefit us. The first way being emotionally. Using marijuana can significantly reduce the symptoms of negative mental conditions, such as anxiety and depression. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the naturally occurring chemical component of marijuana that is responsible for a majority of its psychological effects. On the other hand, CBD, or cannabidiol, the other main component of marijuana, is responsible for a multitude of positive benefits. One being that medically, it’s considered an antipsychotic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory agent. Another benefit of CBDs is that they actually combat any negative effects associated with other chemical components in marijuana, making it almost harmless. When combined into one little "nug," THC and CBD can combat insomnia, nausea, pain, anxiety, and an enormous list of other ailments. So, instead of instead of turning to prescription medication that can cause severe damage to multiple parts of your body, why not take a toke or two now and again just to loosen up after a long day.
Smoking weed or using marijuana-based products with your friends or significant other can also be highly positive. Now, I know you may be picturing the stereotypical group of stoners sitting in a room, hitting a doobie like something out of a Cheech and Chong movie, doing nothing productive with their lives other than satisfying their “munchies” with high-calorie foods – but that’s not always the case. Smoking with people who are important to you can really benefit your relationship. The reason is that marijuana has a way of causing people to really open up and lower their walls mentally and emotionally. No one is sad when they’re high, and I can guarantee that.
Again, I am not trying to convince you to change your stance on marijuana, and I have no interest in starting a debate on why or why not weed should be legalized in America. I am also not here to condone illegal activity. However, I just want people to know the facts. Let's face it -- it's 2016. Weed is not, nor should it be, taboo. It is becoming more socialized and commercialized. As a marijuana legalization advocate and weed enthusiast, I have done my research and, along with millions of people across the world, am living proof that cannabis can be incorporated into a healthy and productive lifestyle. So stop the stigma, do some research, and if you believe marijuana can help you -- well, to each their own!
