As the 2016 election is approaching, it seems as though more people than usual are paying close attention. The reason is very simple: Donald Trump. He is a man so outrageously offensive that the media can't get enough of him. A lot of people say that Trump just "tells it like it is," but I think that most of us can agree that the quotes below don't hold any truth. Instead, they reflect a lack of understanding and general respectfulness of others.
1."Beauty and elegance, whether in a woman, a building, or a work of art, is not just superficial or something pretty to see."
Yeah, because buildings and works of art are the same things as women.
2. "I do have my ducks in line if I want to do it, but I'd love to see the Republicans pick somebody that was going to win and take over this country and frankly, to use the expression, 'Make America great again.'"
What exactly do you mean when you say, "Make America great, again"? To what time period are you referring to? Because the last time I checked, if we went back to any other time in American history, women and minorities would lose a significant amount of rights.
3. “I’ve said if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”
Ew. Just, ew.
4. "My IQ is one of the highest -- and you all know it! Please don't feel so stupid or insecure; it's not your fault."
Don't worry. I don't.
5. “The other candidates -- they went in, they didn’t know the air conditioning didn’t work. They sweated like dogs... How are they gonna beat ISIS? I don’t think it’s gonna happen.”
So, you are more equipped to deal with ISIS because you knew the air conditioning wasn't working? I think that's the only time I've heard you talk about any kind of foreign policy strategy. Good luck with that.
6. “Rosie O’Donnell’s disgusting both inside and out. You take a look at her, she’s a slob. She talks like a truck driver, she doesn’t have her facts, she’ll say anything that comes to her mind.”
She doesn't have her facts? She says anything that comes to her mind? Sound familiar? I think you're disgusting on the inside, Mr. Trump, which is really the only thing that counts.
7. "He's not a war hero. He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured, OK, I hate to tell you."
For those who don't know, this is in reference to Senator John McCain who spent five years as a POW in Vietnam. When did Donald Trump serve in the military, you might ask? Oh, that's right, he didn't.
8. “All the women on 'The Apprentice' flirted with me -- consciously or unconsciously. That’s to be expected.”
It's to be expected? Because women just can't seem to control themselves in your presence? I mean it's true, how could we resist a man who has no capacity for human compassion and lacks a fundamental understanding of how to run our government?
9. "26,000 unreported sexual assults in the military -- only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men and women together?"
Maybe, now I'm just guessing here, but maybe it was expected that people wouldn't rape each other. I know in that small-minded head of yours you couldn't possibly see how men could be put into close quarters with women without sexually assaulting them, but I assure you it's entirely possible.
10. “I will build a great wall -- and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me -- and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.”
Why don't you go build a wall around yourself, Donald Trump?
After reviewing all of these, for lack of a better word, tactless remarks, Donald Trump is at best an attention seeking pop culture figure. He is not, however, someone who is fit to be the next President of the United States.
