It takes courage to let go of the familiar and embrace the new.

Though change is a good thing, people seem to shudder at the mention of the word. We all have situations that arise in our life that let us know we have reached the end of that road. Sometimes there is no other way to turn except to continue on down a new road. It's frightening to start all over from scratch again, but the end process of what you gain from starting a new chapter in your life is so worth it.

There was a time when I reached the end of my road. I had to choose a fresh start and wipe the slate clean sort of speak. Was I terribly scared? Of course! It's natural for us to shy away from things we are not used to. The fear of making a radical change in my life was the easy part of conquering, believe it or not. I found that the hardest part was saying goodbye to what once was an essential part of my life. In my situation, the radical change consisted of a move – not just to a different city or county but a move that brought me half-way across the United States.

The move itself helped me learn much about myself. Not only was I able to realize which of my characteristics were weak, but it helped me gain a greater independence as well. However, change does come in many forms. I changed not only my postal address but also the relationships that I had cultivated over the years. In some situations, it's a good thing to take a step back and analyze just how much you are getting out of your current environment or relationships. If you don't see any more room for potential growth or development in those areas, then maybe it's time for you to make moves of your own.

The most important part I learned from constantly changing my environment and experiencing new things is that we are granted a certain amount of time on this Earth. Whether that time is excessive or minimal, the choice to learn and grow from what we surround ourselves with is our own. If you don't feel completely confident in the situation you're in, its OK to change it. Fight the fear and self-doubt you may have and make the decision to make a radical change in your lifestyle and move forward with whatever it is that you want. If you choose to live a life of contentment, you might never know what else could be outside your immediate environment. Make a change for the better and start making moves in your life today. Your future self will not only thank you for the initiative you took but for putting a brave foot forward and making future strides towards a greater success.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
