Your Major Described As A Starbucks Drink

It's a little bit more than half way through the first semester of this school year. I'm sitting in the lounge of my university's Starbucks thinking about how far I've come in my major. Reflecting on all of my achievements, remembering how I learned from mistakes, and reminding myself of why I am here. I know at this point of the semester, there are people out there questioning what they're doing with their lives, and how they're going to use their degree. Trust me... I've been there, usually with a frappuccino in hand. I've mustered up some ideas of what kinds of drinks can describe your major, and here they are.

Education: Hot Chocolate

To be an education major, you need to be kid friendly! What drink is more kid friendly than hot chocolate?! It doesn't have an overload of caffeine in it, you can put marshmallows in it, and it's chocolate (who doesn't like chocolate). This drink is also great for your kiddos when you decide to have a Polar Express movie day!

Nursing: White Chocolate Mocha

Besides the obvious white coats I see the nursing majors around my university wearing, nursing majors have some of the sweetest hearts. They are so dedicated to studying, achieving perfection, and being the best nurse they can be. The added mocha is so they have some form of coffee, they need a "kick" to get through those long shifts somehow! However, practically anything with caffeine it would do.

Science: Regular Coffee

Getting a regular cup of coffee from Starbucks is broad, but it allows room for variation and experimentation to find the exact concoction you like. This is like being a science major! Science is ever evolving and full of experimentation, and science majors are always in a lab experimenting on something. We wouldn't be as advanced in the world without science, and probably without coffee either!

Music: Smores Frappuccino

Oh music majors. They are eccentric in the best way possible, like this drink! Whoever thought to make smores into a drink is a pure genius. There's a lot of components that go into the smores frappuccino, just like they're are many components that go into being a music major! Going to a plethora of classes, finding time to go practice, and attending concerts to support fellow music majors... no wonder music majors need coffee!

History: Double Shot of Espresso

The concept of a double shot of espresso (or espresso in general), has been around for as long as I can remember. Well guess what? So has history! History majors... praise them because they have to remember dates from all the way back when our country was founded and beyond. Why not celebrate history with a drink that has been around for a while?

Spanish: Chile Mocha

Spanish countries and their culture are known for the spices and bold flavors in their foods. Adding chile to a mocha, now that's a bold coffee flavor. If you want an extra kick to your coffee, this is it.

Exercise Science: Strawberry Acai Refresher

Exercise science majors are very attentive to what they eat and how they are going to be able to work it off later in the gym. So if they drink anything from Starbucks, I would imagine that it is light on the stomach like a refresher! It's also one of Starbucks' healthier options.

Mass Communications: Vanilla Bean Frappuccino

The objective of Mass Communication majors is to deliver information on a large scale to many people on a variety of platforms. The Vanilla Bean Frappucino has the same reputation. I know the first time I went to Starbucks, I was told to try this drink because it's not too strong in the coffee department but gives you just enough to get through. I also know I was not the only person to try that first. The Vanilla Bean Frappuccino is an excellent go to for first time Starbucks visitors.

Psychology: Vanilla Latte

Let me tell you, I praise psychology majors. They, like nursing majors, have the sweetest hearts and desire to serve others. With that desire comes a punch of determination, as this major is a lot of work and retaining a ton of information. This is like a Vanilla Latte. Sweet, but packed with a punch of flavor to give you just enough energy to get through the day.

Art: Iced Coffee

Art majors are some of the most talented people in this world. Even though iced coffee is a basic drink, it has the caffeine like coffee to get artists through their long hours at the easel. It also one of the easier forms of coffee to clean up when it spills, which will prevent major damage of their art if there is a spill!

Of course there are many other majors at many other universities, but these are some of the most common majors I've come to know and appreciate. Hopefully your campus has a Starbucks to get you through those tough days. Coffee on, my friends!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
