So recently on facebook I saw a video that was shared titled "This Is The Price Of Your Woman Card". Now I know, I am a male so I do not know what it is like to be a woman, so I will address the issues in the video that are objectively false and give my thoughts on what is subjective. Fair?
It starts off with the girls asking questions that are stereotypes placed on women. This whole video is in the form of an infomercial/poetry. For example they ask "Is there a speeding ticket you need to get out of?" I do not see how this is a women's issue personally, I have been pulled over three times and I have gotten out of a ticket twice and had one lowered in price, but moving on. One asks "Are you tired of opening doors for yourself?" Why is a man being polite a bad thing? I personally will open the door for anyone, especially my date. I guess according to them my mother taught me the wrong way to act. They go into PMS next and we can all agree that any man who says anything about that is just rude.
Next they go into the price of the "woman's card". According to them,as a jab for the gender pay gap, the card has an annual fee of $.78 to every dollar a man earns. This has been proven false again and again and again and again. With the same education, the same number of work hours, and for the same job will either get paid the same as or more than their male counterparts. Go here for more. Your pay is on you, there are laws in place to prevent pay discrimination.
Now they go into the market, that they must pay two dollars more for a razor even though it does the same job as a man's razor. You do not have to buy the razor, no one is forcing you to buy the razor. In fact you can buy the men's razor if you like.
They then go into the idea that black females recieve a higher chance of domestic violence, pay discrimination, and systematic racism. First off, the domestic violence has a lot to do with how the male was raised and yes that is terrible. The pay discrinimination, still on you. Systematic racism, zero evidence it exists. They go back into the market and talk about how a black woman needs to spend hundreds of dollars on hair products becuase "you have to look like a white woman" to get the job you want. Is there evidence of this? Numbers? Please share it with me. Once again, you also do not have to buy the products, no one is forcing you too.
Next the hispanic girl in the group goes on about her mother who cleans houses and has to deal with abuse from the owner. Uhm, who is forcing you to be there? Once again, why do they keep making these voluntary actions seem like someone is forcing them to be there?
Next they go into sexual assault. This is a very touchy subject, but bad statistics do not help the victims. Christina Hoff Sommers, the factual feminist, has very helpful videos that move past the fallacies. When it comes to the catcalls and persistent flirting, yeah I am not a fan. Fellas, come on, be gentlemen. They are right about that, and it is ridiculous. Though I believe it has to do a lot with the culture of the man who is catcalling.
Moving on to the next topic, the workplace. IN this segment they claim how they are stereotyped and thought of as less than equal. Once again, who is forcing you to not talk to HR if something happnes? And if HR is not doing anything then who is forcing you to work there? Any time you agree to work for a company or place of business, it is a voluntary action on your part and a mutual agreement between you and the company.
Now this next part they go into is actually disturbing. They say, and I quote "If you show a health provider your woman's card, you will recieve new and improved ways on how to deal with the aftermath of your boyfriend refusing to wear a condom. You will find that it is always your repsonsibility to clean up his mess." A child is the aftermath of a mistake? The child is a mess you don't want to clean up? Do they really devalue human life that much? That is sick. They then try to justify murder, I mean the "right to choose", by saying congress thinks it has more rights over their body. Newsflash, the child is not your body, it is a separate human life that has the same rights as you.
Next they go into sexual assault and rape this time. Rape is the worst possible thing a man could do to a woman and they deserve punishment to the fullest extent of the law. They bring up the Brock Turner incident and that was awful yes, and his sentencing was too light yes. We are on the same page there.
Lastly, they finish up by saying that when men hear "equality" they only think about hitting the woman back. Who has said that? Who is advocating for that? I would love to tell them that what they are promoting is asinine. They go into how they are afraid to have children becuase of what is being taught to them. I also enjoy how there is a jab at Trump, and yes he is a terrible person, but they completely ignore how awful Hillary is. Hillary silenced her husband's rape victims, she does not stand for women at all.
I am not a parent, but all I can say is that for my future son or daughter or both, that I will show them what it is like to be a proper gentlemen. I will show by example, and to show that my future daughter deserves the utmost respect and should not recieve any less from any man. That my future son will show a woman that she deserves the utmost repsect and to give her nothing less. These women in the video push lies and false claims. They are right about some things, but wrong on much much more. Watch the absurdity here.
