If you were one of the 31.76 million people who tuned in to the Oscars on Sunday night, you probably have a lot of thoughts. Maybe Chris Rock's hosting job wasn't your favorite, and you're really excited that Leo finally got his chance to shine. If you're anything like me, you also noticed all the amazing fashion present at the show. My favorite part of awards show season is watching all the pre-show festivities, seeing all the stars strut the red carpet in designer gowns. I've decided to take this opportunity to fulfill my far-fetched dream of someday being the person who writes the best and worst dressed lists for a trendy magazine, so I bring you my favorite looks from the 88th annual Oscars:
1. Priyanka Chopra
Everyone was obsessed with this look, and while I hate to go with the crowd, I can't help but agree. Everything about this is so perfect, from the simple color to the unique detailing and the hint of bling on the belt. This dress is classy, chic and cool, and definitely turned heads on the red carpet. I will absolutely be seeking out this designer when/if my wedding day comes.
2. Rachel McAdams
You can never go wrong with a high leg slit for an awards show gown. Just ask Angeline Jolie. Rachel McAdams kept it simple with an interesting emerald color that has been super popular this year, but showed off her fabulous legs at the same time. It also had a halter top with a completely open back, which is daring for such a big awards show. This stunning dress that is just the right mix of class and sass.
3. Margot Robbie
Normally I'm not a fan of all sequined dresses, but Margot Robbie did this one right. She made the dress the center of attention, keeping her hair and makeup bright and simple, causing her dress to be the star of the show. While watching the red carpet interviews, I was able to point out Robbie in the background because of how dazzling this dress was. Props to her for finding a balance between showy and pretty.
4. Chrissy Teigen
Everyone who knows me knows that if I could marry Chrissy Teigen I would, so it's not a surprise she made it on this list. I love this dress because I have literally never seen anything even remotely like it. It's also not a typical choice for someone who is halfway through their pregnancy. The flowers on this dress are so pretty and just the right size and amount so as not to be too much. Chrissy definitely went bold by wearing a sheer and detailed gown, but I think it paid off.
5. Brie Larson
Not only did Brie Larson slay at the Oscars by taking home the award for best actress, she also killed it on the red carpet. This look reminds me of a modern princess, which I love. The color is cool and sophisticated, and the belt makes the look very fun while still maintaining a really girly vibe. The key to red carpet success is being able to balance two different styles, which Brie definitely pulled off.
