Rapper Dwayne Carter, known as Lil Wayne, had two seizures while on his jet. In the past, he's been known to have drug problem followed with a few addictions. Allegedly, he admit to being addicted to sizzurp. Sizzurp is a mixture of codeine-based prescription cough syrup, lean, jolly ranchers, and Sprite mixed together. To Wayne, the taste is very good, and he can not stop drinking it. The street name for sizzurp is called Purple Drank. The side effects of sizzurp are feeling drowsiness, being light-headed, blurred vision, dizziness, intense sweating, hallucinations, having an irregular heartbeat (the heartbeat could be fast,) abnormal thinking, and general confusion. These are also all signs of a sizzurp addiction. These are the signs Wayne was probably having. No one truly knows yet if the 33-year-old rapper was suffering from these symptoms.
Back in 2013, Wayne was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital where doctors allegedly found high amounts of codeine in his body. He had suffered multiple seizures. Allegedly, he told people that sizzurp was something out of his life for awhile. During this time, Wayne mentioned numerous times in his songs about how much codeine is great. He would add the prescription drugs in hooks, outros, intros, and some of his bars. He mentioned it in his songs as if having a sizzurp addiction was something cool.
Prescription drug addiction is one of the leading causes of death in teenagers and young adults. When Wayne is proudly saying he is "codeine crazy," this is sending a message to the young generation saying it cool or okay to get addicted to prescription drugs. NO, IT IS NOT OKAY, YOUNG PEOPLE. There have been instances when Wayne said he does not care what people think. Also, allegedly he said if people do not like the content of his music, then they did not have to listen. But whether Wayne raps about sex, drugs, or education, he is still loved by fans.
On June 13, 2016, Wayne was flying in his private jet to California. When on his private jet, he had two seizures. As a result, his private jet made an emergency landing in Omaha, Nebraska. Allegedly, the night before, Wayne drank three bottles of codeine at a nightclub while appearing there. He was released from CHI-Creighton Hospital on June 14, 2016. He thanked all his fans for the prayers. Wayne did not cancel his upcoming in Kansas City, this Saturday, June 18, with guest appearances by Future and Tech N9ne.
