It’s very simple. Life is not easy. We all go through trials and tribulations that bring us to our knees. From facing rejection of a possible internship to broken hearts to dealing with the loss of a loved one, sometimes you wonder if you can get out of bed to face the world. While enduring hardships, it is easy to lose hope. There have been many times I have wanted to give up. I so desperately wished I was a carefree child that only has to worry about a scuffed up knee. As much as I want to, I can't go back to my younger years. But, when I feel like I can't get up I turn to these quotes to give me encouragement and strength.
“And in the meantime, cultivate an understanding of a bunch of other things that the best, sanest people on the planet know; that life is long, that people both change and remain the same, that every last one of us will need to fuck up and be forgiven, that we’re all just walking and walking and walking and trying to find our way, that all roads eventually lead to the mountain top.” –Cheryl Strayed
"Do what you feel in your heart. You'll be criticized anyway." - Eleanor Roosevelt
The five simple rules for happiness:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.
“The greatest gift you can give someone is your time. Because when you give your time, you are giving a portion of your life that you will never get back.” –Annoymous
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you do.” Joshua 1:9
"Live beneath your means. Return everything you borrow. Stop blaming other people. Admit it when you make a mistake. Give clothes not worn to charity. Do something nice and try not to get caught. Listen more; talk less. Every day take a 30-minute walk. Strive for excellence, not perfection. Be on time. Don't make excuses. Don't argue. Get organized. Be kind to people. Be kind to unkind people. Let someone cut ahead of you in line. Take time to be alone. Cultivate good manners. Be humble. Realize and accept that life isn't fair. Know when to keep you mouth shut. Go an entire day without criticizing anyone. Learn from the present. Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff." - From a Quaker Newsletter
There is definitely no doubt, it is much easier said then done. We are humans. We worry, we can be unkind, we argue, we forget to forgive. And although we all do wrong, my favorite quote by Snoopy reminds us all to, "“Keep looking up…that’s the secret of life…”
