**WARNING: THE CONTENT IN THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS OF SEASON 1. IF YOU ARE EVEN VAGUELY INTERESTED IN WATCHING THE SHOW, PLEASE DO THAT FIRST!! THANK YOU!***

In July of 2016, Netflix released an original TV series called Stranger Things that exploded into major popularity. From the casting to the story, this show will be one to talk about for a long time. When I watched it, it immediately drew me in and got me emotionally invested in every character. The first season was only 8 episodes long and fans of the show can not wait for the teased Season 2. This article will be talking about the foundational lessons that I picked up on from the first season of Stranger Things. Enjoy!! :)

Don't ever mess with a Mother's intuition (or Winona Ryder).

Joyce, Winona Ryder's character, is such a determined person in the show. Her determination and motherly instincts lead her to finding Will and venturing to the unknown. Plus, I watched this show the same time I got into Heathers so... Winona Ryder is BAE.

Sometimes younger people have better morals then adults.

Not only are these kids smart and independent, they are also determined. Like Joyce, they continue to try to find Will, even after his "body" is found. They know the true meaning of friendship and this is passed onto Eleven by the end of the season.

The Government can and is EVERYWHERE.

If watching CitizenFour and the John Oliver segment on government surveillance didn't make me paranoid about my weird Google search history, this show certainly did. The evil government corporation is very real in Stranger Things and we see that this corporation can easily influence communities and cover their tracks very well. Also, I wouldn't doubt that our own government is working on stuff like this.

The bully boyfriend can get redeemed.

Steve was played out to be the stereotypical mean jock boyfriend throughout the whole season. All around he wasn't a nice dude, but in the last episode Steve got his redemption. Not only did he help our protagonists, but also his actions that led to his redemption were all self-motivated. He knew that he needed to change his ways and he did, breaking his stereotype.

Don't be something you aren't.

Barb is made out to be that odd friend that gets tossed aside when her main friend start dating the popular jock. Even though her screen time is very limited, Barb continues to use her intuition over what others were saying. All in all, we just want more Barb.

Little Girls can be badass!

This show gave a little girl superpowers, which isn't done often. This gives everything that Eleven does in the show a new level of badassery.

These things are what I saw and took from the show. You can form your own opinions about the characters and plot. I respect that. I hope if you did watch the show that you enjoyed it as much as I did and, like me, can't wait for Season 2.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
