Growing up, I have watched and learned that life has a way of flying by with the blink of an eye. You can be 5 years old playing on the playground with your kindergarten friends one minute, and the next you're trying to decide what wedding dress to wear on your big wedding day. It's crazy how fast time flies, but what is really important is what you choose to do with those precious seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years leading up to your last breath.
Take a second and just reminisce on your life. Are you where you want to be? Are you doing what it takes to get to that ultimate goal you've set for yourself? Are you living for YOUR happiness instead of doing what other people think you should do? These are the many questions I have found myself sitting around and asking myself. You see, I don't want to wake up one day when I'm 70 something years old and look back on my life and wish that I had done what made me happy instead of what other people thought was right for my life.
So, if you are in a situation where you feel like everything you're doing in your life is for other people's amusement and not for your happiness, I encourage you to stop. You deserve to live this one life to the fullest and with complete and utter happiness day in and day out. Sure, there are going to be many many people who disagree with your decisions and the things you choose to do with your life. But you've got to remember that it's YOUR life. Those people can't live it for you. Your happiness is what truly matters. Those people, if they care about you and love you, will come around and eventually your happiness will be all that matters to them.
Don't let life fly by with the blink of an eye without doing those things that you dream about at night. Don't let them be just dreams. Make them a reality. Work hard, love others, and do what's best for you. Take that crazy road trip you've been daydreaming about since you were a kid. Get that tattoo you can't stop looking at a picture of on your phone. Spend your whole paycheck on those cute clothes that make you feel beautiful. Grab your best friend and escape for a weekend for a crazy adventure. Marry that guy that gives you butterflies and makes you the happiest girl on the planet and loves you unconditionally. Pursue that career you've wanted to have for as long as you can remember and do whatever it takes to make it happen, even if that means you have to work full time as well.
Life is too short to waste it. Promise yourself that when you're 70 something, you will look back on your life and be totally happy and you will know in that moment that you live your life to the fullest. And that's what matters at the end of the day.
I choose happiness.
