Hey Winter,
I am writing this letter for all the others like me who hate the cold. Winter, is your time to shine and I hope it’s a great few months. However, this year I feel like you may come on a little too strong. I want to remind you that you do not need to show off or feel like you have to be the most powerful season. For lack of better words, I am asking you to chill. We all know that spring, fall, and summer have nothing on you. Let’s make this year the best yet.
This may be too much to ask, but I was thinking you could just warm it up a little bit. A chill in the air is perfect, but the tears freezing on my cheek as I walk to class is a little dramatic don’t you think? If there is something we did to make you angry, it caused you to make a few months of our lives miserable, we sincerely apologize.
This letter should serve as a warning to you. You are causing people to move to areas in the world that your weather is suppressed. Is that what you want? People can no longer handle your seasonal gifts. You are trying too hard. I know this may be hard to hear, and it may make you more angry. I want to remind you that, winter, you are the most celebrated season of all time.
Have you ever heard a song about fall on the radio? I don’t think so. Come December most stations are going to be playing music all about your beautiful snow and crisp air. This romanticized version of winter is what we are looking for! The holiday season is meant for looking at the wisps of snow and cuddling by a fire, but in years past it’s been so cold that even sitting by a window meant having three sweaters and a blanket.
I entreat you to take this letter seriously. It represents a general concern for our happiness this next few months. We will be prepared for the cold, but be nice to us this year.
Love,
A person who is always cold
