This is your time. It's your time to realize everything you have going for you. You met your friends that you think will stay in your life forever, and you even begin to think about what you want to do with your life. Everyone says that high school is the best four years of your life, and that really does depend on the person. For me, I have a few regrets about high school. My first one, don't be afraid.
Most of my high school career, I was simply afraid. I was afraid of judgment from others, and now that I'm in college, I have a whole new mindset. You should never care about what others will think of you. You should do what makes YOU happy and successful. The opinions of others are unnecessary. Don't fall into the trap of caring too much about what others think of you.
Next, don't hold back. If you have a passion or interest in something, do it. Excuses mean nothing. If you want to try out for the basketball team or ask a girl out on a date, then do it. You never know what the results could be. You could be the star of the basketball team, or that girl could be the love of your life someday.
Friends come and go. All throughout high school, you gain and lose friends. Losing a friend may seem like the end of the world but it isn't. The best part is that you will gain so many friends in the future. Being in college, I have made so many friends that I know will last a lifetime. While being in college, don't forget about your friends back home too.
It seems as if you need to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life when you're in high school. That is one of the toughest decisions you could make. Deciding what college you want to attend and your major is not an easy decision. Fortunately, 80% of college students change their major. One piece of advice is to not decide on a college/major based on your parents/how much money you will make. I have seen too many of my friends pick a major based on their parents, and become unhappy with what they picked. I have also seen friends pick a major that earns the highest salary but fail all of their classes. You need to find your passion. Find that little thing in your life that you love doing, and stick with it. Never give up on your dream.
Seniors, this last year of high school will fly by as fast as possible. Enjoy every second you have there, because before you know it, you will not being seeing those same people anymore. You will all go your separate ways in life and start a new future. Don't be afraid of moving ahead in life, but don't forget where you came from.
